I have not been sexually active since July 2007. However, last weekend I had a small blister show up on my buttocks. I had my dermatologist look at it. He said it was Herpes and we've done a culture. (Still waiting on results.) He said the "initial breakout" must come within 2 weeks of exposure. However, I have had not exposure. Is this correct?
My doc just told me that you can have the virus in your system for YEARS before having an initial outbreak!!! I was tested a year and a half ago and everything came back fine, but she told me that if the skin is clear at the time of testing, it can come back negative. I too am waiting for results :(
I forgot to mention....she told me that sometimes you have small sores that you never notice, and those are herpes, but the BIG outbreak is when most people discover that they do indeed have it.
