Initial outbreak of Oral HSV-1

Last week I gave oral sex to a new partner, followed by intercourse without a condom.  A few days later I had some irritation inside of my mouth which then turned into an outbreak of canker sores, mostly on the tissue inside my lower mouth. I now also have some gum irritation. There are no sores outside of my mouth.  I also had a fever of 101, body aches and swollen glands under my neck.  I've since noticed 3 small single pimple marks on my arm and legs that are occasionally itchy.  I'm 35 years old, I've been sexually active since I was 18.  I've never had these symptoms aside from the occasional canker sores which I used to get  more often as a child and tend to run in the family.

My genital area is also a bit sore and looks like I might have some small tears within the vagina but I don't see blisters. I'm assuming this is from rough sex but also afraid this could be the start of something more.

I went to see my doctor and she visually diagnosed me with an initial oral outbreak of HSV-1.  I started taking a prescription for Acyclovir, 400MG 3x daily. She took a blood test for HSV-1 and HSV-2 and I'm awaiting results.

Does this sound like the typical HSV-1? I think it's strange that I'm in my mid-30's and I've never been in contact with the virus. Is is possible that I could have contracted HSV-1 in both my mouth and genitals?

If I'm positive, now what? Am I a risk to anyone I kiss or engage in oral sex or will most guys be immune. I'm scared of my diagnosis and trying to find answers.

Life360, thanks for your reply. I was also worried that this could be oral HSV-2 but I've read that was not common. I guess I'll have to wait a week on the test results.

Hi, it would be best for you to get your test results back before going into any lenghty discussion of herpes but if he did not have any genital sores on his shaft at the time, your odds you just contracted herpes from this one time affair would be close to zero.
If you tested at least at the 8 week mark and comes back as a high positive that would infer that youve had oral hsv1 for a very long time and if thats the case you cant contract it a second time and also getting it now in the genitlal area is not any real possibility as having it long term in one area would make you basicly immune to getting it in another area.

Oral hsv2 is not common at all as prefers the genital ganglion.
