Is a sore throat a sign of herpes?

I had unprotected sex about 3 months ago, and i recently noticed bumps on my penis, i recently went to a doctor, and from physical examination he said the bumps where normal and you have no signs of herpes or hpv. But after, reading some websites of symptoms from herpes, I am curious is it possible to have herpes because i have had the symptoms related to herpes, like itching and burning around the genital area, fever, sore throat, and headaches?

it's that time of the year when these sorts of infections are common.

I just got checked for my sore throat checked for strep, the results came back negative saying normal throat floral only, but the doctor commented its probably just a bad viral infection, and I asked her multiple times if these symptoms I have related to herpes and she said no

yes they do but most of the time, they don't. the posters symptoms don't sound at all herpes related and being told that by a medical professional who saw his symptoms is pretty good reason to doubt herpes.

Actually, doctors miss over a quarter of actual herpes diagnoses by calling symptoms normal or nothing to worry about.

pretty easy to tell the difference between herpes related lesions and regular hair follicles.

if you doubt what you were told, be seen elsewhere for a 2nd opinion.

since you had unprotected sex, you can follow up with proper testing at the proper times. test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, trich and ngu after 1 week post encounter.  syphilis after 6 weeks. herpes, hiv and hepatitis after 3 months.

have you had your gardasil shots for hpv yet?

Your doctor should have done a PCR swab of the sores then you would know whether it's herpes or not. You can take a blood test now, which will most likely be accurate since it's been three months. However, blood tests only tell you that you have it, but do not specify its location. If you get more bumps then get them cultured by your doctor asap.

hi, if i was you i would go to the GUM clinic at your local hospital and get checked out it's been 3 months so it's the right amount of time, hopefully everything's ok but best to just go and get checked out.
