My father cheated on my mom a number of years ago and my mom caught herpes from him. At their house they have a furry toilet seat liner. Sometimes when i go to their house and go pee after my father, the furry thing is wet with his pee. I get re-current boils in past years - or some tender bump that breaks open with blood or clear liquid if I put iodine or magnesium oil and a band-aid on it. It only seems to come when I masturbate every two months for past couple of years - I am celibate past 6-7 years. Do I have any worry to catch herpes from my father?

Also my bf smokes off a bong a lot and shares it with a friend of his who sometimes has the herpes sores on or near his lips. Even though it would be low, can herpes be spread this way? I know I got walking mono once when I shared a cup of beer with a man who had walking mono. I took one or two brief sips off his plastic cup and a little time later got sick and the doctor tested me and I was positive for it but am now better. Herpes is not transmitted on toilet seats or through urine. Genital herpes requires having sex for transmission, plain and simple.

In adults, oral herpes is transmitted primarily through romantic type kissing.
