Is it herpes or an ingrown hair????

I am sexually active and about a week ago I noticed that I was getting a bump on my vagina lip. I immediately started to freak out. I told my mom about it and she said that it was probably an ingrown hair. Well today it is bigger and very very tender. No head has appeared yet but it doesn't look like a sore. And it is really hard as if there is something under my skin. I tried to pop it today but all that did was make it hurt worse. I looked up herpes and it does not look like that and I have no other symptoms...could this really be an ingrown hair???? Please someone help me!

No problem!! Peoples psychi when it comes to their genitals is when something happens out of the ordinary, if has to be an STD but it is a part of the body and can get weird looking lesions like anywhere else!! I see people all the time with these big disgusting boils on their necks and what not and they aren't on here thinking it is an STD. I am sure you are fine! Keep us posted!!!

Ok so I am almost positive it is a boil now. It finally has started to drain.I am still going to the doctor just to be sure. Thank you for the posts. I was beginning to think noone would respond. It also made me feel a little better getting an outsiders opinion. Thanks again and I keep ya posted!

If it looks like a Boil then there is no chance it is herpes... Boils tend to look like they are trying to pop out of the skin where herpes tends to look like they are laying on top of the skin... I am sure you are fine but go get it looked at....

Thank you for replying! I plan to call the doctor first thing Monday morning so I can get in ASAP! If I can't get to my doctor on Monday than I think it is a good idea to go planned parenthood. I never thought of going there. It almost looks like a boil and it is very painful when I walk or anything. I don't think it is herpes but you can never be to sure about those things. Thanks again for the response!

Doesn't appear to be herpes but if I were you I would go Monday morning before this thing disappears and let a trained STD specialist look at it! I say trained because many doctors are not familiar with the presentation of HSV and may say you have it when in fact it may now. Go to Planned Parenthood or a Dermatologist..
