Is it possible to contract Herpes in a pool while having sex?

I was at a large event in a pool with hundreds of other people in the pool.  My bf and I who have never had an STD before, had sex in the pool while there were several other people in the pool.  3 days later I got a UTI and noticed some bumps.  I went to the clinic and a doctor diagnosed me with Herpes, just by looking at them.  I went to a testing center and had an IGM test done to see if this was a recent infection.  It came back positive that it was a recent infection.  Is it possible to have gotten Herpes from having sex in the pool?  I need an answer from a doctor please.

most people who have hsv1 never get obvious cold sores to know it.  It's not likely that this test result is reflecting a newly acquired hsv1 infection. odds are you had hsv1 prior to this and just never knew it.

has the partner you had sex with been tested for herpes?

I just got my results back for the IgG and I was positive for 1 and negative for 2. I don't understand this because the breakout ocurred on my genitals and now I'm positive for HSV 1. I have never had a cold coar on or near my mouth ever. Can you help me understand this?

at this point it will be far too late for herpes testing on tuesday as far as a lesion culture of active symptoms. get properly tested for yeast and bacterial vaginal infections on tuesday to see if either of them are an issue. Both you and your partner should get type specific herpes igg blood tests to see who has what to follow up on this better as Terri already suggested.

You need to wait 12-16 weeks for the HSV type specific igg test which is what you will need to take.  Testing now will not be accurate.

if your partner you are having sex with has herpes and you have sex in a pool with them, yes you are at risk of contracting their herpes.

If your partner doesn't have herpes, you won't get it because someone else in the pool has herpes. it doesn't float through the water to infect others.

did that answer your question about the situation?

I did pay and I was told that I cannot get herpes from being in a pool. I know that.  Being more specific, I wanted to know if it was possible for me to have contracted herpes from having sex in a pool where others were having sex?

I was told that an IgM test is mostly wrong. I was told for my bf and I to both get a IgG test done to see if I have HSV1 or 2.  I broke out with blisters on my genitals a week ago and now they are gone, only small red circular areas remain.

I'm going to the OBGYN on Tues, what should I have done?

Any thoughts?
