Is it possible to get genital herpes from giving oral sex?

I have recently been diagnosed with genital herpes and I'm trying to decide who definitely gave me it. I gave oral sex to a guy just before my symptoms started to show, if he had genital herpes and I gave him oral with NO genital sex would it still be possible for me to get genital herpes and symptoms on my vulva?

No. That is not possible. You need to have your genitals involved to contract it there.
How were you diagnosed? Is it hsv1 or hsv2?
