Is it possible to have been infected with hsv 2, 8 days prior to testing positive

2 weeks ago I had intercourse with a woman, I used a condom during intercourse however she was very wet and her wetness seemed to get all over my midsection.
About three days later I started to feel a burning sensation in my penis so I scheduled std testing
8 days after sexual encounter I tested positive for hsv results are
Hsv 1 igg 49. (I have had cold sores all my life)
Hsv 2 igg 4.77
I still have burning sensation on tip of penis seem to go away for awhile after urination. I can not see any blisters yet.
All previous sex encounters for the past 5 years have been with my wife. We were having some problems and I did something stupid.

I guess the question is could this be an old infection (Prior to 8 days)
I have read it takes a couple of weeks to test positive.
I also read that people infected with hsv1 might have a faster immune response to hsv2
All other std I tested for are negative. So I am assuming the burning sensation is some type of reaction to the hsv2
Prior to this I have never had any symptoms of genital herpes.
I have no idea if my wife is carrying hsv2

Thank you for your time

Not really. At a 4.77 it's well into the positive and another test won't reveal anything.

Thanks for your help
I guess I have to assume it is most likely that my wife is the person I contracted this from

Your symptoms are not typical of  newly acquired hsv. Usually people with hsv1 take a little longer to test positive for hsv2

Would getting retested and compare the results tell me any thing about the age of the infection

8 days is to soon to test positive. You've had hsv2 for awhile.

Thank that's what I thought
However the symptoms seemed to have occurred in line with this incident I suppose it could be just a coincidence and I have been infected for sometime
