Is it?

I have had one partner for 2 months and have had unprotected vaginal, anal and oral sex with him from week 2.  I started with symptoms that were diagnosed originally as a kidney infection (high fever, body aches, sharp pain in right flank, high WBC's in urine) and was treated about 4 weeks ago.  Now starting this past Thursday I started with body aches again, right flank pain etc.  Saturday evening I developed small areas on dry genital areas that were circles, pink and dry but in my wet areas they were like ulcers.  And at the opening of the base of my vagina it was raw appearing.  I also had two dry areas on my buttocks close to my rectal opening.  I started with a light milky discharge from my vagina and have a lot of pain when i pee and urine hits the sores as well as extreme pain from the rectum when i have bowel movement.  I am seeing MD tomorrow but he gave me Valtrex just to be safe til I see him (I am an RN and was self-diagnosing).  My only confusion now is the fact that I have the dry ulcers running up my back.  Could it be something OTHER than HSV2 since everywhere I have researched has said nothing about lesions occuring elsewhere?

Well, I had a vaginal culture and it came back positive for HSV-1.  My IgM came back negative for HSV-2 and positive for HSV-1, but IgG both came negative.  So my doctor told me that I have a primary outbreak of HSV-1 genital (which my ignorance before this had me believe that was just oral!).  He told me that the IgM is always the first to show positive for exposure and the IgG won't show for several more weeks.  I am on 1gm Valtrex twice a day for 10 days and then he said I shouldn't need suppressive therapy unless I have another outbreak.
I am having my boyfriend tested also, but will assume his IgG HSV-1 will be positive and my doctor says that he is likely the source.  How accurate does all of this sound?
Also he could not give me an explanation for the sores that were on my back and we did not culture them...nonetheless I would like to know your opinions out there.  Since this obviously seems like a primary outbreak from all labs, symptoms and cultures...what is the likelyhood that he could come back negative?  Great thing he is very supportive through all of this!  Thanks everyone!

Well i went to the doctor and he feels it IS a primary outbreak and can't explain the sores on the back.  He sent a vaginal culture as well as sending of bloodwork although it may be too soon for a positive IGG we are going to look anyway.  He increased my Valtrex to 1Gm twice a day for 10 more days. He DID say the sores on my back appeared to be Chicken Pox, so I am really hoping for some odd reason I have chicken pox that decided to attack my genitals and back LOL!  But am prepared for the worst diagnosis and my boyfriend is waiting to test until after my results come in.  I will let you know the results as soon as I have them.

Doesn't sound like Herpes at all. Herpes isn't so widespread as you mentioned. It gets into a nerve ganglion and you can get an outbreak anywhere served by that nerve ganglion. from the vagina all the way up your back doesn't sound like a herpes outbreak at all. I do have to mention that the ulcers can conceivably be herpes but the widespread of the ulcers doesn't sound like a herpes outbreak. Sounds like your kidney infection might have come back... Let us know what your Dr says. If the Valtrex isn't helping than that is further proof that it isn't herpes.
