Is my bump a sign of herpes?

Is my bump a sign of herpes?

Hi everyone,
im a bit concerned and need some help. On August 1st i had unprotected sex with a man i didnt know too well. when i went to get tested on September 13 i found out i had high risk HPV, they also gave me a blood test where the tested me for herpes type 1 and 2, HIV and hepatitis and it came out negative. 2 weeks ago i noticed a bump near the lip of my vigina (vagina). i went to the doctor as soon as i noticed becasue i thought it could be a genital wart from my HPV or herpes. my doctor didnt think it was herpes or a wart but now 2 week later the bump is still there. it doesnt itch, burn or hurt. it doesnt look like pimple but its more like a ball that i can actually grab. can this be herpes? was my herpes test 6 weeks after having unprotected sex accurate? please any advice will help.

thanks!

unfortunately almost all your testing was done too early from your unprotected encounter. you needed to wait at least  3 months for herpes, hiv and hepatitis testing to be accurate.  if you are really concerned, you'll need retested again.

herpes won't stay 2 weeks without changing. they also aren't going to be non-itchy or present without some sort of pain.

at this point, be seen again for further work up since this isn't going away.

Hi Grace,
thank you for responding. i was tsted again on october and november for HIV and it was negative again. i didnt test again for hepatitis or herpes. i will test again soon. if dont think it looks like herpes..could it be genital warts from my hpv? also would i had an outbreak from my unprotected encounter by now if i was infected with herpes?

thanks again

there are over 30 different types of hpv that commonly infect the genital area. the kinds that cause high risk cervical infections aren't the same kinds that cause genital warts. could you have multiple hpv infections at the same time in the genital area? yes you can. you'd have to be seen and let them look at this to see if it looks like it's  a wart or not.
