A few months ago my girlfriend started getting worried about the cold sores on her mouth. She got tested for herpes and the results came back positive. Her IgM 1/2 Combination ratio was 0.92H.
A week later I got tested, and the results came back positive. My IgM 1/2 ratio was 44.4H.
I KNOW I didn't give it to her. Her ex used to cheat on her a lot... (this was over 2 years ago) and she believes that her ex gave her herpes then I got it from her. Doc said due to her antibody levels or... whatever... that she did GIVE me herpes and not vice versa.
I know I may not be giving much info... it's kind of confusing but my question is...
What are the chances that my girlfriend contracted the virus from her ex boyfriend over 2 years ago versus her cheating on me recently?
I have the lab results handy, and was wondering if there was something in the lab results that would contradict her contracting the virus over years ago.
the herpes igm test is a very flawed test and isn't recommended to be drawn on adults. the current cdc herpes testing guidelines support this and your providers should update their testing information about herpes. really you two can't assume a darn thing with + combined igm results.
