Is that herpes?

I now have what looks to be a Herpes infection but I'm not sure about that.

The sore is located in the upper middle part in the cleft of my buttocks.

According to the tests I passed three days ago I have a very high amount of igG in my blood (over thirty), however what troubles and puzzles me is that I could have possibly been infected three months ago and only two days ago I noticed the first serious manifestation of what looks to be a Herpes infection. It was was itchy so I scratched it, and now three days later it doesn't even want to heal, not to mention it's very painful. So, I'm very confused as to why Herpes has taken three months to manifest itself in my body however all the sources I've found in Google say that it takes up to four weeks maximum for Herpes to develop.

As to why I believe I was infected involuntarily three months ago.

I didn't have an actual sexual intercourse with that person but we had quite an intense foreplay, where we definitely exchanged fluids (saliva and vagina's fluid), the girl touched my penis and other parts of my body, I touched her vagina and other parts. In short I knew she was HSV II positive so I didn't let us finish what we started.

Here's a picture (NOT safe for work!) http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/1210/buttocks.jpg

So, my questions are:

1) Is this sore a herpes manifestation?
2) If it is, why Herpes has taken almost three months to develop in my body? I haven't had sex in the past three months.
3) Is this type I or type II?
4) What other tests should I do to know for sure?
5) Most importantly - can I have sex with a women? I do NOT want to infect anyone unknowingly or by accident.
6) A DNA test of a scrape from my urethra is negative.
7) Will Herpes always manifest itself in this exact location of my body?

most people who have hsv1 orally never get obvious cold sores. a good percentage of us pick up the infection when we are quite young and the initial symptoms go unnoticed or attributed to common cold/sore throat viruses.

My doctor said that sore definitely wasn't Herpes.

Blood test showed I had no Herpes type II antibodies, only Herpes I antibodies.

Everything's kinda weird, as I've never had any Herpes I symptoms either.

A temp of 37.2 isn't a fever.

your testing was done long enough after sex that you have no good reason to think you have genital herpes.

I'm not sure it was the flu, more likely the common cold which started badly (39.7C armpit temperature, had to call an ambulance and got a shot of analgin), and a week after it began I still haven't recovered - now I have 37.2C daily.

BTW, I had tissue from this sore PCR tested and it returned negative for both HSV I and HSV II.

What troubles me is that this sore which coincided with the common cold (i.e. they both started a week ago), also hasn't healed.

> were you seen for your new symptoms?

I got the flu, so I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow.

> how long prior to your 2nd test had you last had sex?

Normal sex - seven months ago, heavy foreplay (without intercourse, but we kissed, she touched my penis with her hands, I tried to finger her) - three months ago.

Last Tuesday I did a non-specific IgG blood test (Chemi Luminescent Enzyme Immunoassay) and it detected 30.8 something antibodies.

Three days ago, i.e. just four days after the first test, I did a specific IgG test (serological markers) and on Sunday it returned with the following results:

antibodies to HSV type I IgG - 4.1
antibodies to HSV type II IgG - 0.05

Around Tuesday evening last week (i.e. the same day I did the first tests) a very unpleasant sore developed in the cleft of my buttocks  - which I thought/still think is a HSV type II manifestation (it hasn't fully healed yet).

My questions:

1) Do I have HSV II at all?

2) Is this sore spot HSV I? How the hell did it appear over there when all I've read about HSV-I is that it manifests itself in the upper part of the human body and appears as a sore on the lips?

3) Could HSV II antibodies totally disappear in my body for four days, meaning I have both HSV types?

4) What's going on with my body?

being in the same bed with bottoms on is fine.

mycoplasma for otherwise healthy adults isn't a big health issue at all.

Can I share my bed with anyone right now? I'm not talking about sex, just being together on the same bed.

Am I highly contagious? Should I at least cover this sore with anything?

I will see a doctor on Monday at the earliest.

And I will try to find the labs here which do a herpeselect or captia blood test or I'll go to Moscow, as I know they can carry out something like that. Last but not least my sore coincided with something similar to the flu - it all happened three days ago almost at the same time.

> are they treating you for the mycoplasma infection?

Not yet, as I've just got back the results.

Of course, it's purely offtopic to our discussion here but is mycoplasma a serious infection? The Internet is kinda light on details about it.

Please, excuse me for asking this question here.

P.S. This whole array of tests was carried out at the request of the physician who I turned to to treat a chronic prostate inflammation.

none type specific testing is worthless. you should seek out type specific herpes igg blood testing 3 months after you last had sex for better answers.  I am limited in how I can help you with herpes blood testing when outside of the US unless you have either a herpeselect or captia blood test done.

torch testing is outdated and not worth your time. it's designed for newborns, not adults.

are they treating you for the mycoplasma infection?

Yes, it was non-type specific testing.

The actual test results are:

Anti-HSV 1,2 IgG quantitative (blood) - 30.8.
Mychoplasma Hominis (scrape) - detected

I did almost the entire TORCH array, and it found only these two things.

> did they do a lesion culture of actual symptoms

No, that was just generic blood test, I will try your proposal tomorrow as the day here is pretty much over.

we don't look at pictures here. why not is explained in our read before posting post on the forum.

your igg testing sounds like it was perhaps non-type specific testing. if you can get the actual test results, I can better help you.

did they do a lesion culture of actual symptoms? if not, try to be seen today and have one done.
