Is this a Herpes Primary Outbreak?

Hi,

I am new to the forum and I have been stressing day and night over some possible Herpes Symptoms. I will explain what happened, but can someone please tell me if this sounds like a typical herpes outbreak?

I had protected oral and vaginal sex with a girl who I did not know about 2 weeks ago. About 2 days later I found a small patch of dark skin on my scrotum approx 6-8mm in diameter. It was located on a part of my genitals which would be close to where the condom covered but would not cover.

After a closer inspection, I realised if you stretched the skin, the skin would crack/break up into seperate dark/dead/dry skin patches. I scratched this skin off and it revealed a shallow sore/pink patch which did not have any pus or fluid, it was just pink and raw. It didn't really hurt unless you rubbed against it.

Freaking out I went to the doctor and got a blood test (which wouldn't show anything because the Antibodies would not have reacted that quickly) and he inspected the spot. He said it was nothing, a false alarm, however I am skeptical as I have never had a spot like this before. He said it wasn't herpes as it didn't have any pus and that I would be experience flu like symptoms for it to be anything. However I am skeptical due to this spot appearing 2 days after intercourse. He said it could have been an old wound from something else, or even an insect bite. He completely dismissed it and didn't bother doing a swab test. The blood test was negative for everything and the red spot took approx 3-5 days to heal over.

I have had no flu like symptoms, a small self induced cough but that is about it. However I have had other symptoms (listed below). The doctor had inspected these problems and said they have no relation to Herpes and that they were caused from unrelated issues, however after reading some threads on here I am lead to believe otherwise.

I have had some chronic lower pack pain, with a shooting nerve like pain through my leg every so often. I have had a history of back pain and I just went to the Physio and he said concluded that I was damaging my back due to my gym routine and when I sneezed recently it pushed the vertibrae out of place. This pain could have potentially been before or after the sexual act took place but it occurred during that time period. Please note that this could also have happened due to my OCD and leaning over to look over at the spot every minute of the day. The pain has eased off now and its almost gone after the physio session.

I have also had some issues with my groin in which I have had a burning sensation in the inner thighs of my legs. I have had a history of this as well so I am very unsure if it could just be stress bringing this on, but I felt that this episode was more prolonged and more intense than any in the past. This pain has also subsided but is still mildly present.

Someone please tell me if you think what I have could be herpes or not? I mean, I have looked at as many images that I could find on the internet of Genital Herpes and I really don't know what to think as there were no pimple like spots, no pus, no weeping ulceration just dry/dead skin which was raw underneath. It was not originally swollen, nor was it that sore.

PLEASE HELP! I am having serious anxiety and have been having serious problems sleeping at night. I haven't told anyone about this and its seriously eating me alive.

Thanks

D.

It would be very unusual to have pain in all those areas and have it be due to herpes.  The run over by a truck type feeling sometimes happens the first few days of a newly acquired herpes infection but that's it.

It's also not unusual for stress to cause all those types of symptoms too.

Hi Grace,

Thanks for you words of encouragement. But wouldn't all the weird nerve activity and pain be a symptom relating to herpes? I mean, all of these things came at the same time - My back pain, the pain in my groin, the nerve pain in my legs and arms, the tingling/pins and needles in my hands and feet? I also have this weird headache which seems to be growing and its not a normal headache.. it feels like someone has a vice around my head and is clamping down on it...

Thanks

D.

You scratched it until it was raw so no wonder it looked perplexing to your provider!!!

I assume you also are spending a lot of time fixated on your genital area too?

At this point I'd see a dermatologist if your regular doctor isn't able to figure out what is going on.  This still sounds like something non-herpes going on.

To update:

Not so good news. I got another little spot on my scrotum right next to the original one. I thought it was dead skin so I scratched it til it was quite raw. Naturally, I freaked out and went to the doctor who said that it was quite weird. I got it swabbed but after a week of agony waiting the test result came back negative.

However, this is the part that is not so good. I am experience some extreme nerve activity throughoout my whole body. There is a consistant pain in my legs triggered by what I think is damaged nerves. The "pain" switches on and off throughout my whole body including my arms and hands and has progressively gotten worst. Before it was only when i sat, now it is pretty much all the time. I have a pretty weird headache as well which seems to be the same kind of pain. My lower back is constantly hurting and I am getting pins and needles throughout my limbs. I also have this consistant groin pain between my genitals and my thighs on both sides, its like a burning pain, however the pain can fade in which my groin feels very tight.

I still have 2 months til I go in for my final blood check but I guess things don't look very promising, although the swab came back negative I am pretty sure this nerve pain has something to do with herpes as I have never experienced many of these events before.

Anyways, will just have to see in time.

this doesn't sound at all like herpes.
