Is this a Herpes infection?

Hi,

Had protected sex with a csw, but later I developed some irritation in my genital area right under my pubic hair. I started worrying that this might be Herpes, so I did a search on google for some images and most of them show some kind of infectious boil like marks on the penis. My question is, if I contracted Herpes from her, will it grow under my pubic hair or does it grow on the penis?

Also how long does it take for these boils to grow? it's been 5 weeks since exposure and there isn't anything like that as of yet so does it take a while to show up?

Thanks for your help.

have you been to a doctor yet? you have multiple posts on multiple boards now. have you been seen and if so, what did they think was going on?

I've only done a 5 week HIV test, and tested for Chlamidiya. Other than that I didn't think to test for Herpes because I didn't suspect anything until now. Is it possible it could be herpes? please give me some more information.

if you have a rash, you need seen for it.

this was protected sex. the odds of it being a std are very low. Honestly I wouldn't have even recommended any testing for this encounter other than following up on any symptoms you develop.

Yeah but I'm still worried cause I read you can still get herpes even if you have protected sex. I have burning in my genital area and a red mark in my pubic area, is this herpes?

"Yeah but" doesn't work. Plain and simple, you need to be seen when you have symptoms, just as Grace stated.

Ok Petal I will see a doc. But I am reading that you can only test for Herpes after 4 months. So I'm a little confused should I go see a urologist about the slight burning sensation in my penis, or should I see a dermatologist about the skin irritation?

You should be seen while you have symptoms. A dermatologist is a better choice, as this isn't a plumbing problem, it's on the skin in your pubic area. Testing for herpes 4 months down the road will only tell you your herpes status; it does you no good for now since your symptoms most likely aren't herpes related. Don't continue to hang your hat on herpes when it most likely is something else.

typically your regular provider is the best place to start. they usually can get you in to be seen quickly and can do the basic testing you need done for the symptoms you've listed.
