Is this a Prodrome occurence?

October of 2008, I had protected intercourse with a female individual. Unfortunately the condom broke, but at the time I didn't think anything of it. In Jan. of 2009 this female contacted me and told me that she had genital herpes. Prior to us having sex, i had been tested and know i was clean, sadly she had not and didn't know when she aquired the  disease. She didn't show any visible signs of herpes at the time of intercourse. It is now Feb. and I haven't had any visible outbreaks. I have decided to get tested though and was wondering if what i am currently experiencing is a sign of a herpes infection. Two days ago I became sick with flu like symptoms, muscle pain, loss of appetite, and a mild fever. Those symptoms are now subsiding, but I noticed that I have one irritated hair follicle on the right side of my pubic area closer to my leg than my penis. There is no fluid, but it is slighlty red and hurts when i touch it. Does this sound like Prodome, the symptoms before a full outbreak of herpes?

Thanks

I've been doing a ton of reading online about herpes symptoms.  Your symptoms don't sound like you have it to me.  It sounds to me, like an ingrown hair.  I'm also afraid I have herpes so I know what your going through.  Best of luck.

so you have had a herpes igg blood test or you haven't yet?

You would not be experiencing flu like symptoms now if you contracted this in october. I recommend checking to make sure that your prior std testing included herpes testing ( it's not a part of routine std testing in most clinics so check to be sure ) and then repeat it now to see if your contracted herpes from your october encounter. the risk from a one time, mostly protected encounter is very low though so I wouldn't be too concerned that you contracted it then.

i know for sure i was tested for herpes before october, because they told that exact thing that they didn't test for herpes unless they were asked to do so. I asked and they tested; thankfully at that time everything was negative. It just concerns me, because I hear so much how some people don't have their first experience months or years later.

Thanks
