Is this a cold sore?

A few days ago my bottom lip began to turn raw and red, and I got a few small lip-colored bumps on my bottom lip. It was just raw and a little sore for a while. I'm wondering if this is a cold sore or not, because it did not go through the scabbing or crusting process, and went away in only a few days.

I'd go with irritation if it went away in that time frame.

****Also, there was no itching, which I heard was common in cold sores.
I also had just started using a new chapstick that may have caused irritation.
