Is this herpes?

I'm 20 year old female and have had red sometimes purplish bumps on my groin area. They started about two months ago as just medium sized red spots that were extremely itchy; those went away and now there are numerous bumps that have spread to the right side where my thigh is and mostly on the right side on the outside of my vagina (nothing internal). I did shave and I think that caused them to spread. They still itch occassionally, and are very annoying. There are no other side effects such as fever, burning when urinating, just the itchy bumps. Some had white heads, but now most of them are just red spots. I purchased Monistat from a drug store and used that about three days ago thinking it could be a yeast infection, but the bumps are still there. However, the anti-itch cream givin with the monistat does relieve the itching. I have only had intercourse with one man, my current partner. But about three- four months ago i received unprotected oral sex from someone else. I do not know their sexual history. So, is it possible this is herpes even though these symptoms have been going on for 2 months now?

Thank you

this doesn't sound at all like yeast. really doesn't sound like herpes either.

go and be seen - this very well might be a mrsa infection which will only get worse until properly treated. Anything going on for 2 months deserves a proper medical exam!

glad you got answers and started treatment :)

don't forget to do the full mrsa laundry and cleaning precautions too in case this is your MRSA reoccurring.

Thanks grace i have had mrsa before, and considered it a possibility. but when i had mrsa i got a large painful boil on my groin area and also on the back of my leg. so i wasnt sure if it could be mrsa, but after doing some research i see that mrsa can be itchy like this.  i also had one of the bumps appear on my knee which was odd. so since i have had mrsa before you think this is what it is?

I have never been tested because I just recently became sexually active, my partner has been tested and is clean. I think if I do have herpes it would be from receiving oral sex in april/may from a different partner; he only gave oral no actual intercourse I have looked at pictures and I do not think it's herpes, but i'm really not sure. I really hope it isn't herpes.

Do bacterial infections cause itching?

Be seen by a doctor. This could be a number of things, really. And if it's some bacterial infection, it could be dangerous since it spreads quickly.

Have you or your partner ever been tested for herpes?

Oh and also when the bumps with a white head emerged they were sore to the touch, but not all the bumps had white heads and all of them range in different sizes. Now most of the bumps are flat.
