I had a one night stand (I know!) and AFTER he told me he has Herpes. He did not have any symptoms but also does not take medication. I am freaked out and need to know what to do now?? I called a support line and they said it would be up to three weeks before it showed up in a blood test if I am now infected.
Is there anything I can do right now or is it just a waiting game? I am so worried :(
, so better keep an eye on it - but don't over do it, as I said above, the chance of transmission was low.
3 weeks for a blood test is not exactly right. blood tests can take up to 3-4 months to become positive, although most people become positive within 4-6 weeks.
I'm playing the waiting game right now too and it isn't fun. It has been 30 days since I was possibly exposed. My partner had a breakout 10 days after we were together which prompted me to get tested. I've never been tested before but I've never had any outbreak. My ex of 14 years didn't either. I was tested at 3 weeks and my igg tests were both negative but my igm was reactive
Quite honestly, a one time encounter is very low risk. In the absence of symptoms, up to you if you even want to test (a piece of advice also given on the expert's forum).
