Itchy, hurtful sores on the vagina

A couple days ago I've notices little bumps near my anus and vagina, it's itchy and it hurts when I urinate. I've gone to the doctors for this 6 months ago and he gave me a cream, after a couple of days it stopped and now it seems like the same thing. Each day it seems to spread more and on the vagina as well. It looks like open sores and at one point it bled a little, when I wipe it's a pinkish color, this was only one day. I'm really scared about what it could be. When I went to my doctor last time for this he said I do not have herpes or any other STD, but researching it I'm terrified!

definitely a further work up is in order.  a visual diagnosis of this isn't herpes also isn't always the best course of action. Having a recurrence this severe of herpes would be unusual but cover the bases so that you know for sure. If you can be seen within 48 hours of your symptoms starting they can do a lesion culture and typing. Otherwise you'll need to get a type specific herpes igg blood test done. The non-type specific is the default herpes blood testing evidently in canada so insist on the right testing to be done.

also a trip to a dermatologist would also be a good idea from the sounds of things if you can get  a referral to one in a timely manner. all sorts of skin issues this could be and getting better answers is in your best interest. anything that causes open sores like this can increase your risk of a std so controlling what is going on is a good idea.  if you have a regular partner, have they had full std testing done too?

Hello,

Bumps can be anything.  Painful ones like you are talking about are even worse.  I am sorry you are going through this.

Did your doctor do any STD testing?  It looks like youare in Canada.  You will need to get a HSV IGG blood test done for best results.  This may cost you out of pocket to do.

Given that the bumps keep coming back you should have your doctor look at your vaginal secrections to see if you have a bacterial infection or yeast infection.  Also getting a proper STD test isn't a bad idea.  You should also see if they will do a lesion culture and typing to see if it is in fact HSV as well.
