It's been 1.5 weeks after possible exposure

First of all, thank you to all the participants in this forum.  Two days ago I had an Herpes HSV I and II IgG tests taken.  Today both results came back negative.  My male partner of 2 years has never shown symptoms, while I had my first outbreak (on my genitals, (I am female)) 1 week ago. The only logical conclusion my monogamous partner and I can come up with is he had a cold sore the last time he performed oral sex on me. The outbreak is now almost entirely healed.  I now realize that the IgG test probably does not give accurate results if the exposure to Herpes was less that 6 weeks ago.  But I wonder:  Since the IgG told me that I do not have HSV-1...if I now take the IgM and it came back positive could it tell me accurately that I have HSV-2 (since it has been a very recent exposure)?  Or is the IgM test worthless?

Even the best herpes blood tests still miss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. If your partner performed oral sex on you with an active cold sore, odds are this is hsv1 genitally.

Has your partner been tested for hsv2 yet?
