First of all, thank you to all the participants in this forum. Two days ago I had an Herpes HSV I and II IgG tests taken. Today both results came back negative. My male partner of 2 years has never shown symptoms, while I had my first outbreak (on my genitals, (I am female
on me. The outbreak is now almost entirely healed. I now realize that the IgG test probably does not give accurate results if the exposure to Herpes was less that 6 weeks ago. But I wonder: Since the IgG told me that I do not have HSV-1...if I now take the IgM and it came back positive could it tell me accurately that I have HSV-2 (since it has been a very recent exposure)? Or is the IgM test worthless?
