Hey-
Unfortunately, i started this year with a bit of bad luck to my side. I went in to the health office a week ago with a mark on the side of my shaft. it looked liked a brown piece of skin which eventually turn into a scab. Scared out of my mind, i went in for a std check and hiv testing. A week later, (today 14th) the test results came back as positive for herpes type 1.
A month ago, i had a one night stand with a girl i met around the area. The intercourse was, to the best of my knowledge, the safest sex i can possibly have with someone. She lick my nipples and my neck and i recieved oral sex from her with a condom on. Eventually i had intercourse with her where i wore a new condom. Unfortunately, this was not enough to guarrantee my safety and two weeks later i had symptoms on my shaft.
I have a lot of questions and i hope you can help guide me toward the right directions.
1. Since the results came out positive for herpes type 1, how come there was symptoms on my genital area and not the mouth part?
2. If i have another outbreak in the future, there will be a high chance of outbreaks around the mouth area? Will i experience outbreak on my genital area?
3. A week later the scab went away and i havent seen any symptoms on my genital area so far, how long should i wait before its safe to practice sex again?
4. The docotr prescrib me with some medication, should i be taking this on a daily basis even if there is not signs of outbreak?
5. If i didnt experience any outbreak for more then a year, what are the chances of spreading this infection to my partner if i discountinue the medication and did not use condom??
6. Someimtes i would go an dvisit my family, and there is little small kids around the house. I shouldnt be picking up and holding the kids if i show any signs of outbreak right??
6. Now that i am diagnosed with this infection, what is my next step? what should i do? what are some other places where i can educate myself about this problem.
Thanks fo ryour time and i hope to hear from you soon.
