L Lysine

Has anyone had any luck with L Lysine, or any other treatment of this kind?

Lysine is one of the biggest herpes myths out there.  It really doesn't do much for most folks. Most of us get more than enough lysine already in our diet so supplementing with more doesn't really make too much of a difference for the most part. The lysine/arginine herpes diet never held up outside of the test tube.  

The only study that showed any significant results at all was with the 1gm 3x/day dose. That said it still can't even begin to hold a candle to the results you get with oral antivirals.  You can treat your herpes with acyclovir suppressively for about $12/month if you shop around for prices and are in the US.  You can't treat herpes with lysine for that price plus we don't know if it has any effects at all on viral shedding which is the most important part about treating herpes if you are in a discordant relationship.

Point of correction; Lysine works very well. I have personal experience with it an find that it is very helpful, What would you exchange for being ob free for 2yrs?? I will recommend this treatment to anybody also bearing in mind that there is not one single therapy that will suit everybody. While on lysine therapy, also try to stay away from argenine rich foods. These can be googled from the internet. Good examples are Peanuts and chocolate. Avoid these by all means. Think about it Just like hypertension, while on medication your doctor will still ask you to follow certain lifestyle changes e.g. exercise and diet....
LYSINE works. Tried tested and proven by me.....Good Luck

I just started L-Lysine 1000 grams last week...I take 1 a day.  I can't believe how well its working. I am one who seems to always have predome.  I don't feel one itch, tingle or burning sensation in my lower extremities after I started taking L-Lysine.

i was diagnosed with H 2 weeks ago and i have already had my first ob and thank GOD it was just 1 sore......i just started taking lysine today 9/1/10 and i take healthy immune system vitamins (vitamin C, Zinc, and Echinacea) are the combination of vitamins....I am praying for the best.  So along with Prayer and faith, a stressless as possible life, love and support from my husband, and these vitamins I am hoping for the best!!!!!!!!!!!! Will keep the process posted
