I experienced my first genital herpes outbreak in late August of this year. My boyfriend developed a cold sore a couple days before my outbreak, so it made sense that I got it from him. I took a blood test to see if I was producing antibodies and the results come back saying that I had the long-term antibodies in my system. My boyfriend and I have been sleeping together for over a year without an outbreak from either one of us. How do I have the long term antibodies if i just experience my first breakout? Also, I have not had another breakout to this day.
First, don't assume anything when it comes to herpes. Although there's a good chance you caught HSV1 from your bf oral infection, you need to seek proper exams to confirm it.
Were you seen by a doctor to confirm the diagnosis? Did they swab the lesions? Also, it would be better if you could post your blood test results here, literally (exemple: IgG 3.4, IgM 0.6) etc so we can better help you.
Has your boyfriend already been tested for herpes 1 and 2?
