Large rash on thighs

To give background,  where I work is very hot. I sweat alot. My underwear can get very wet by end of day. Two weeks ago it was particularly hot, pushing 100 degrees. One evening I noticed my scrotum was very itchy,no pain just itchy. The next morning I noticed it was very red and leathery feeling. No bumps. I used cortaid to help the itching. Two days after that I still had those same symptoms but began getting red pimple sized bumps on the inside of my thighs. These patches of red bumps were not clusters but evenly spaced tightly together on both sides of my inner thighs starting where my scrotum touches them out the distance of the with of my hand. (so picture an area the size of the average man's hand filled evenly with these pimples/blisters)They don't itch but my scrotum still does.

The bumps have turned white and now about a week later they're disappearing  without scabbing over. My scrotum skin is cracking and flacking now as well. I've been using goldbond medicated powder to control the itch and the is all I've used in the past week.

I have been in a monogamous relationship for the past 7 years. I keep telling myself it's a major case of jock itch but the pics look like herpes but a huge area. My anxiety is through the roof. I have a doc appointment later today but I'm going crazy. I can't see how this is herpes

Is it normal for jock itch or fungal infection to weep like this? It smells terrible.

This began weeping yesterday late afternoon. Smells bad, I bought Lamisil and still using powder to keep it dry. Still only exists on my inner thighs and scrotum.

jock itch is a fungal infection. A topical steroid cream won't help it get better. since your appointment get cancelled, why not pick up a tube of jock itch cream and apply it twice a day for a week and see if it helps instead?

does this sound like herpes? No it does not. A newly acquired herpes infection can occur on a larger area like this but this really sounds like a fungal infection and not herpes.

Be sure to change out of wet clothing when you get home from work to help decrease irritation and to remove the conditions that help fungus to thrive.

Again having rashes on both sides is not indicative of herpes as those with herpes have outbreaks only on one side and for sure the scrotum area is not a place for outbreaks as the skin is to thick.

Just to be clear, The cortaid did not help clear these bumps. Only helped the itching on my scrotum

Ive had them myself and are very annoying but do see a doctor for concerns about herpes to ease your anxiety. A simple swab of the area or a blood test.

Prickly heat rash can cause them for sure and thats why the cordaid helped as it would not help ease herpes sores.
Try wearing some looser cotton pants to avoid friction.

So jock itch can cause these pimple sized red bumps/blisters on my inner thighs?

Hi, let us know what the doc says but from what your describing it doesnot appear as herpes at all for many reasons. Long term herpes sores appear only on one side and for a recent infection the area is not correct as first time sores appear at point of contact like the penis shaft or pubic mound area and are not white. The scrotums skin is too thick as well. Sounds like a typical case of jock itch.
