I am a woman an I have recently tested positive for Hsv1. Previously, I have never tested positve for it. I was exposed back in January after having sex
. He was having an outbreak over this time, but his symptoms were so mild, he didn't realize it.
Since then, despite my positive hsv1 results, I have had no symptoms orally or genitally. So my question is... Is it 50/50 that I acquired it genitally versus orally? It's killing me not knowing. If I did get it genitally from him, surely I would know by now and had a primary
odds are this is a previous hsv1 oral infection you never knew you had. most folks who have hsv1 orally, don't get obvious cold sores to know it. you never had any genital symptoms back in january so odds are this isn't from that encounter.
But I was tested for hsv1 and 2 in 2010 and 2009 and both igg tests were negative. Now I've been exposed to someone who was positive, and now I'm positive. So it's not from a previous infection.
even the best blood tests stillmiss 1 out of every 10 hsv1 infections. hard to tell if you really were negative then or not.
statistically 1 out of every 2-3 people you've ever kissed have had hsv1. odds are that your hsv1 is oral regardless of when and from whom you contracted it.
