Lookin for Facts

Looking for someone who can help me with facts...Recently the person I was with had an outbreak of herpes, and was diagnosed by a Dr with genital herpes. Since then he has blamed me as the cause, for his genital herpes. However, I've never had any sypmtoms. Fearing I was cause I went to the Dr and had a Herpes Blood test since I don't have any symptoms that is the only test they are able to perform. I just received the results and they were negative. My question is could I still have been responsible in any way? Or does that negative mean I'm not at fault for his herpes and if fact he was the carrier? Need some real help from anyone who has the time...  I realize now I could potentially be exposed to herpes since we've been together and it was not protected and this was during all this time he didnt' have an outbreak which has been a total of 6 weeks. I plan to get re-tested in another 6 weeks to be sure.

Just need to understand the facts if I could potentially be responsible, since he's blaming me and my test came out negative. Or if he has some explaining to do of his own.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated... Thank You !

A herpes pcr blood test is a waste of time and money. Give your provider a call monday, point this out and ask to be credited for the test since it was done completely in error. You need to have a type specific herpes igg blood test done. The pcr blood test is not of use outside of research in adults. Pcr herpes testing is the prefered way to get a lesion culture done but isn't helpful in blood testing in adults for the purpose of diagnosing herpes.

About 1/2 of all presumed newly acquired genital herpes infections are really just the first obvious recurrence of a previously acquired herpes infection. It very well could be the case in your situation too.

When your partner was tested - did they say if he has hsv 1 or hsv2? Did he have a lesion culture done or did he also have a blood test done at th etime?

do you know what blood test you had done for herpes testing yourself?

If you were negitive then I would say he was the carrier and you aren't to blame. He could have had it for years without knowing and since he has the only positive how could he blame you. It's a good idea for you to get tested again just in case but you couldn't have spread it if you don't have it.
