Low positive hsv type 1 and 2

Hello,
I have a very quick question to hopefully reduce some anxiety my boyfriend and I are having over a recent test result.
Historically I have always tested negative to hsv by igg and WB. My last test was recent. He had never been tested prior to our relationship and claims zero symptoms (knowing many don't recognize symptoms). He received an igg result of:
Hsv 1: 1.22
Hsv 2: 2.88

I'm aware both are in the low positive range and could represent a false pos.  this is clearly what we are hoping for.  We have scheduled a Wb for him however.... Results won't be back for up to 15 days!!  We are both very afraid.

As for me and concerning my risks to date, we have only had protected intercourse (I am female) and I have never seen a sore on him.  Being a new relationship we have only been "together" twice.
We have had the classic makeout several times, but again.... No apparent cold sore.
I have experienced a tingle on my lip for 2 days and a sore throat (possible nasal drip as well) so coooooould be a cold and not a cold sore?!?  I hope!!
His values are both so low!  What do you think?  Both regarding my potential risks with two protected exposures and several make outs with no sore present and he never noticing a sore in his life.

Terribly concerned.    Thank you!!!!

Shouldn't worry ... Wait for his result...the odds are pretty good on his side.  In addition, u used condoms and that protect u well in the absence of outbreak on his side.  Sex is a risk no matter what... But glad u had him tested!  If u like this dude... Be there for him now as I am sure he is terrified as this is all a surprise to him.   Come back and let us know his results.  God bless, S

He just went into the doctor (westover heights) for the WB.  They said the hsv 1 is likely to be a false positive and the type 2 is a 50/50.  So..... Now mostly concerned regarding my possible exposure to type 2 genitally.  If it comes back positive, I'm concerned of my risks.  I shouldn't have engaged without knowing for sure......

A Westernblot is a good idea to help reach a conclusion on his HSV status.

Your risk is extremely low given the limited activity. You will have made out with people with HSV1 in the past and not being infected. Each epsiode is very low risk without cold sores present.

My hsv1 was >5and WB was positive .... So I do have hsv1.   So for him there is a good chance his hsv2 was false positive bc he is hsv1 positive (something to do with cross interaction or something).

If ur hsv1 is neg ... Then u have to be careful on oral sex with him.  I don't know the transmission rate of oral to genital for hsv1.  If u already hsv1 positive then no worries there.  I just been reading a lot of hsv1 in women lately and thought I should bring this up to u.

God bless, S

What was your type 1 result?
As for whether I would continue to date him..... Yes, as long as he is honest and forthcoming to me. Trust is huge with this type of situation.  Given that, I agree with yor comment. :)

Ur risk is low as the sex were protected  but if u r concerned ... Either stop sex and wait for his results or have him get on the melds and use condoms.  The preventative measure will reduce risk to like 2% or so.
I don't think you should freak out at all.  Just wait for his WB test to come back.  I was also tested positive by igg of 2.43 but my WB was neg!!!
So just wait it out but ... I guess the question really is.... If he is positive... What would u do?  I don't know the nature of ur relationship but if he is a good guy and willing to take preventative measure to protect u.... What's the worry?  Plus many couples who one have hsv 2 never pass it to their partners at all ( just avoiding sex during outbreak).  Seriously, now I been thru and still are in this roller coaster ... Herpes infection can happen at anytime and if the guy will use prentative measure... It's actually far weights than someone who doesn't know.
Btw, good for u to ask about his std status ... Wish many of us are smart as that!
Good luck and will pray he is negative ... God bless, S

I have herd that a virtual infection of any kind could give you a fals positive. I could be wrong about this.
