Maybe herpes???

by Atomosk, Aug 10, 2008 05:25AM
Hello, Im new to the site, so I hope someone can help me.  Almost a month ago I had noticed small bumps forming on the head of my penis, pinkish in color.  Later, I began to itch very seriously in my groin area.  Although this is still going on and I am due to be checked on Tuesday next week, I know that HSV-2 usually has either some discharge from the urethra or the blisters break at some point causing painful sores and then turn to scabs, not to mention painful urination.  I have not recieved any of these symptoms other than itching and small bumps that appear to elevate slightly and then vanish.  I dont really know what to make of this; Please someone help!!!

Doesn't sound like herpes. The itching isn't a general itching but rather a localized itch where the outbreak will occur. Pinkish little bumps doesn't sound like herpes either.

I'd like to see the cite noting that herpes causes discharge from the urethra. Never heard that one.

Me again.  Just went for my doctors app. a while back, and he said its probably just a yeast infection and gave me some cream for it, but lately theres a rash around the middle shaft of my penis, and its a little raw.  I just had blood drawn and will check back next tuesday.  Really worried, not sue what to think.  I still have never had the open sores, but I have had discomfort while decafitating and a little itching there too.  Still not sure.  This started back in the beginning of July and Its still going on.  Can someone tell me somethin? Thanx.

fungal infections can cause rather nasty rashes.

did you have the doc look at your anal area too to see if anythin was going on there? Don't hesitate to apply the antifungal cream there too.

Try a softer toilet paper.. It's NOT herpes!! herpes isn't going to stay with you for almost 2 months straight.. Thats ridiculous.

Yeah, youre probably right.  I hear though that herpes can pass up the blister phase, so that makes me wonder a little.  Also, I've been itching really bad in the groin area, but still no red blisters, pain, or swelling.  The doc gave me so cream(antifungal?) called ketoconazole, and it's been working to keep most of the itching down, for the most part.  He also told me if nothing changed, he would then send me for a blood test.  So right now, it's just itching really bad, and I'm putting the cream on, two times a day. So I guess I'll keep you posted.  Thanx again, :)

Itching in the genital area is NOT a herpes symptom.. When they talk about itching, they mean where the outbreak is going to happen. It is not a general itching when it comes to herpes. It's localized itching.. You don't have it! Save your money and keep using the cream and worry about something else.. You are fine...

Me again.  Just wanted to post my progress and see what whats going on.  Anyway, I've been using the stuff the doctor gave me, but theres really not much improvement.  It stops the itching for a while, but several hours later, it starts again.  I havent been able to access any herpes testing places in my area.  Now I'm having discomfort in urinating and in the anal area.  I don't know if herpes can skip the sores and blistering stages, but I have heard that somewhere.  Also, what is the difference between localized and general itching?  Slacker101 mentioned this to me and I appreciate the advice greatly, but I guess I'm missing something.  I'm trying to find a place to get tested, but no luck, and this is getting frustrating.  Hope I can get some info on these stupid little bumps and the discomfort; it's really getting to be a pain.  Any info with yeast infections, mild or severe, would also be greatly appreciated.  Thanks again.

Localised itching means ONLY on the area where an outbreak of Herpes would occur Generalised means significantly more than that one area .... I am not aware of Herpes having severe itching either, the way I would describe it is an "alert" type itch/tingle when an oubreak is about to happen.
What you have seems more like a fungal/bacterial infection which would cause fairly severe itching and might also explain the discomfort when urinating, the more you scratch the more you are spreading bacteria and infection that may be there.
I suggest you see your Doctor again rather than leave this untreated because anti-biotics may be the only resolve ....
