This forum is an un-mediated, patient-to-patient forum for questions and support regarding herpes issues such as: Herpes symptoms and treatments, causes, diagnosis, and herpes in men, tests, telling your spouse or partner.
The reason I said that was that I made an inquiry about one of the non-prescription products out there to see if anyone had tried it and had success and it was quickly removed. Medavir makes some pretty miraculous claims and is expensive. I tried another product that claimed to "cure" herpes and it did not. It used DMSO to deliver an herbal product claimed to cure herpes in something like 45-55% of the cases. It seems as if there were a cure by one of these non-prescriptions, then more people would be reporting it on this forum.
I'm not sure why your post was removed at this time. I don't think I was the one who removed it. I leave most of the posts up unless they are duplicates or violate the posting guidelines. Did you receive an email from medhelp about why your post was removed? I believe when a medhelp moderator removes a post, they send you an email about why they did so. The community leaders, like myself, tend not to do so since overall we aren't removing many posts.
I certainly agree - if the over priced "alternative" treatments actually did what they claim to do, more folks would be posting about them. I don't recommend any of them except a few for symptom relief ( few of them I use myself but nothing commercially marketed for "curing" herpes ). Also I can't really recommend folks spend more money than they can on prescription antivirals that have been shown time and time again to reduce ob's as well as reduce viral shedding to help reduce transmission to a partner on something that is unproven and overpriced. I certainly can't recommend DMSO with all the issues/side effects from using it. I also always encourage folks to get proper testing done too before wasting time on the alternative "cures" marketed out there. Plenty a person who tried them, felt that they really worked only to find out that they were never even properly diagnosed as having herpes in the first place.
Always someone out there to take your money unfortunately :( Of course this happens even with prescription medications sometimes too but I digress.
The purpose of my post is not to push Medavir. I am trying to reach out to herpes suffers like myself. I could not find any real human reviews of Medavir. I stumbled across this forum hoping to meet others who have tried Medavir, and find out more about their experiences?
Call me a sucker, but I did buy the $79 supply.
My outbreaks are triggered by menstruation and sex with my partner (friction).
I had recently been diagnosed with Herpes (about a month now). I was prescribed Valtrex after being diagnosed by my doctor. A month later I got another outbreak. Personally, I am not keen on relying on anti-virals. First, the are so expensive! Second, I'm afraid of building an immunity to them.
I have recently tried Medavir after getting a recent outbreak. It seems to suppress the lesions quickly. However, I am not making any claims here. It's my first time using.
I will keep everyone posted in a month.
If I am experiencing progress, you will be the first to no.
If not, I will be executing a return and opting their money-back guarantee
Oh indeed we weren't questioning your post at all! sorry if there was any confusion there. I was labeling my replies to soaringeagle specifically in hopes that you'd realize that.
You don't have to worry about building up resistance to the herpes antivirals. In over 25 years of acyclovir use, the rates of acyclovir resistance ( actually it's more tk deletion than acyclovir resistance ) are still less than 1% in otherwise healthy folks. these are the same rates they were even before we started using the herpes antivirals to treat herpes.
Acyclovir is way cheaper than valtrex though if you are in the US and have decent prescription coverage, valtrex went generic this month so that will be cheaper yet. You can get suppressive therapy with acyclovir even without insurance for under $20/month in the US.
I'm sorry if I gave a terse impression. I did realize you were not directing any labels towards me or anyone else for that matter. I just wanted to be clear to everyone that I am not trying to sell the product nor promote Medavir. I am just a single user trying to find others who have tried the product, and have had a successful outcome.
By the same token, I am open to any other suggestion/s that have worked for others.
Thank you for the information regarding antivirals. My only knowledge of antivirals have been with Valtrex. I do not have prescription drug coverage. I will give acyclovir a try, as it appears far more economical. Thank you!
As for your query regarding my partner... he does also have genital herpes.
Correct - when both partners have the same type, suppressive therapy is used for having less ob's if one or both partners have frequent ob's ( or just find the ones they do have to be painful/annoying ). Less disruption to your sex life plus who really has time to wait for a herpes ob to heal? Even the mild ones are annoying in their own way I think. I just get tired of knowing my crotch is there myself you know? lol
I thought medavir was for herpes simplex 1 , cold sores , not genital herpes. I have always use the amino acid L- lysine for cold sores. I take 1500 mg thru out the day in 100 mg capsules,,, and if taken early enough will stop the cold sore from breaking out
There was a red marine algae product made from a man in California I think, who added a "synergistic blend with co factors" or at least that is what was written on the bottle. Anyway, the product worked. I mean worked worked. If you took it before the blister broke the skin the cold sore would never come out. If you took it even on the first day of the outbreak and a visible sore could be seen, it would go back in. No outbreak. Even if the cold sore was semi developed and into the second day of the outbreak, still, you had a REALLY good chance the sore would retreat and no outbreak. It was what my sister, doctor and I believed not a miracle cure, but still a miracle. The man who made this product died within the last year or two of AIDS I believe, but there are several articles about him on the net and there is definitely a community of people at least on the west coast who know about him. What we don't know is whether or not he passed on his recipe of "synergistic co-factors". Take it from me, a cold sore sufferer since I was a kid, we need to find who has this recipe and get it back on the market EXACTLY the way it was made before. And I would say to anyone reading this who still may have a bottle in their possession to send it to a lab and have it reversed engineered. Since I have been unable to use the product, I've had 5 outbreaks since December, 5. And I had 2 in the past 3 years while using the product, and they were 2 that NO ONE could even notice. I believe the mans' name was Mike Davis, and it was bottled by The Vitamin Factory in California. It's main ingredients were a Proprietary Rhodophyta Red Marine Algae and Citrus Seed Extract.
Ive suffered from cold sores since i was maybe 12 or 13. I am now 25. I get them very frequently. (at LEAST 10 times a year) even with taking acyclovir (zovirax). This works, but, definatly not like youre talkin about jo235 with the synergistic co-factors lol. ive never heard of something that works that good, and I believed I have tried everything in the book, untill now. I will definatly search for that, and let you know if I figure out anything.
Just curious, where did you come across this? was it at a vitamin store?
I ordered Medavir On March24th. Its has been 2 weeks now.
I never recieved package and when I track my packge, It only shows that "electronic shipping info was recieved on March24th."
and no further scan transaction..
I called them 4 times and left message but nobody called me back.
I couldn't talk to main office because they only provide order department phone number. They said order department staff get the message and tell the main office and main office will contact me ASAP. I've waited 5days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! left 4msgs!!!!
What should I do??
That is suprising. My family has been ordering from TAG since 2000. They also have a great nail fungus remedy. Are you sure you are calling the right number (888)343 7737? Because they have people answer all hours of the night (last time I ordered medavir was after work around 2AM)
TSCO as far as effectiveness I dont know about Genital herpes but we ALWAYS keep Medavir on our family boat. 3 of us used to get cold sores often after sun exposure but when you apply medavir to your lips before you go in the sun (important) you never get the sores. It has been a real find for us but YMMV. I have never found anything that works as well for herpes/sun sores.
hope this helps and remember- life is on the water! the rest is just waiting!!!!
