Misdiagnosed

I believe I have HSV2, but my tests results keep coming back negative.  I think I contracted herpes about two years ago, I know who I got it from, and he was tested positive for HSV2.  I get outbreaks on my perineum, usually during my period.  It usually consists of a cluster of small bumps and sometimes they are open sores and bleed, they never really puss.  I took Valtrex for a year and had success, but it stopped working about nine months ago.  That area is constantly itchy or there is an outbreak which burns and is painful.  I stopped taking Valtrex since it wasn't working.  I recently went to a new GYN and he took a culture which came back negative.  I also got a blood test which came back negative.  I'm very confused because I'm almost positive I have herpes, but I'm not sure why my tests are negative.  Is it possible that I don't have the virus?  If I don't, then why am I having these symptoms?

Monthly symptoms that don't respond to suppressive therapy aren't likely to be due to herpes. Your negative lesion culture as well as negative blood test are also indicators that this isn't due to herpes.

did your gyn also test you for other things too?
