Molluscum Contagiosum or herpes?

Hi,

Last Friday I had unprotected sex with a girl I've known for a while. Before we did anything, I asked her about STDs and she said she was clean. Still dumb, I know, but it happened.

On Monday, I noticed two small red bumps that looked like really, really tiny pimples on the head of my penis. No burning or anything else, just the bumps.

The next day, Tuesday, I went down to a local Planned Parenthood and got checked out by a nurse there and told her about my situation. She examined me and noticed some other bumps around my pubic area that I've had for a while and just assumed they were pimples/in-grown hairs. She told me this was molluscum contagiosum and the bumps on the head of my penis were also that. She got some solution and put it on the bumps and told me I may need to come back for a couple of more applications if I wanted them to clear up, or, I could just leave them and they'd go away eventually.

So, I can live with that. The person I saw said she was very confident what I had wasn't herpes, but, I'm still scared. What I've been reading online that describes what herpes initially looks like is what I have and yesterday I started to feel like I'm coming down with a cold. This may all be coincidence or in my head, but I'm still kind of worried and not knowing for SURE is kind of killing me. Since this just happened, I'll have to wait at least 3 months before I can get a definitive test, correct?

Sounds like a good plan.

Ok, thank you. If it's not herpes, that is a relief. I'll just wait it out a bit and if the red mark doesn't go away, I"ll go to my GP.

Thank you again.

I don't know, the first one looks like it could be molluscum but the second one not so much.  Maybe it really was.  However, it does NOT look like herpes.

Well, I've had the molluscum bumps on my body for a while, and on Monday I noticed new bumps on the head of my penis. So, yes it is possible that the bumps on my body and penis are different things.

Yes, my question basically is, does this look like herpes and should I be concerned?

The pictures above are from after she applied the solution. These pics were taken before:

If this were herpes, would this red bump definitely turn into a painful sore, or would it just go away?

That looks nothing like molluscum to me.  Also, it doesn't' show up that quickly.  Is this what it looked like after treatment or before?  If this is after, then I can't know what it looked like before and help you with that part.  It is possible that the bumps you have on your body and this bump on the penis head are different things, right?

If your question is "is this herpes" it definitely doesn't look like it, but if this is after treatment, I can't really answer that.

If you are going to test for herpes at all, we recommend that you get a baseline test now and then follow up in 3-4 months with another.  If you are positive now, you can know that you didn't get it from this person.  But if you wait and test only later, you can't know that.  It might not matter to you and that's fine, but you only have a small window to either test now or forget testing as a baseline.  If you are positive now, then your most recent partner could be a risk of acquiring herpes from you.  Eight percent of those infected with HSV 2 don't know it.
