More Testing?

Update on previous post:

Received and preformed oral sex on a stripper 1/17
Saw my doctor 2 days later and he gave me Valtrex 10 day dose
Developed "pimple" spot in pubic hair 4 days post exposure
"symptoms" shortly after and persisted for 6 weeks
Igm test at 10 days was a positive 1.15, IgG results were negative
Doctor gave me another prescription for the Valtrex, took it for 10 more days then stopped
No noticeable lesions to date
IgG test results at 6 weeks HerpeSelect were negative for 1&2
IgG test results at 12 weeks HerpeSelect were also negative 1&2

I am still concerned that maybe the Valtrex has delayed an antibody response and possibly Hsv 1 positive result is being missed by the HerpeSelect test as i have read it misses 1/10. I know i have read that the IgM test should be ignored but i cant forget about it.

I am looking for peace of mind to put this behind me and have been considering the Western Blot test. Does anyone have any input on how to get the test or if i should even bother taking it

Unless you have a long term partner, i would not test at all as really low risk activity. But have the WB at 16 week if that would ease your concern.

Without sores to date do you think i need confirmatory testing to put this behind me? Would you recommend the Western Blot at 16 weeks?

Hi, well obviously your doctor is not familar with herpes. Medication is prescribed for those confirm positive with herpes and are having numerous outbreaks. A conclusive test for herpes would be 12 weeks after stopping antivirals as could inhibit the development. But bottom line is that if she did not have any lip sores at the time your risk would be close to zero from a one time affair.
