I have previously posted and now have a new dilema. I had routine std testing last week and once again have gotten some strange results. several years ago I had a positve HSV 2 result, I went on to have 4 more tests that were all negative for HSV2 one came back positive for HSV1 which I was ok with since my ex husband has confimed oral HSV1.My current test which was done through Lab Corp. is as follows:
test #164913 HSV 1/II Iggrflx I-II Type Sp
HSV I/II Igg (H) 7.0
test #165265 HSV 1 and 2 -Specific Ab IgG
HSV 1 Igg <0.91
HSV 2 Igg <0.91
My doctor is puzzled and doesn't know if I have it or not. Also, I have not been sexually active in months so it would not be a new infection. Any advice would be very helpful.
the first test you had done was a non-type specific test. it came back positive which isn't unusual. it's not even recommended that adults be given this test in general because it has a very high false positive rate as well as it doesn't give you the answers you need about herpes status. Your provider should stop ordering it especially since they don't know how to interpret it when it is positive :(
your type specific herpes igg results are negative for hsv1 and hsv2. These are the most helpful results and show you don't have either type of herpes.
