My partner infected me with HSV 1 but doesn't know... should I tell him?

My partner performed oral sex on me and soon after I contracted genital HSV 1 (swab test). From what I've read on this forum, it seems likely that he has oral HSV 1 and then passed it on to me. We were both traveling during my outbreak, so he's unaware that it happened.

Given the low chance of recurrent outbreaks, asymptomatic shedding, transmission risks, etc. etc., I'm not planning to let my HSV 1 diagnoses significantly change my life (though obviously I plan to practice safe sex and refrain from sexual activity should outbreak occur).

With this in mind, I'm confused and worried about telling my partner. Is it even worth it? Again, I'm not planning on letting it affect me at all, so should I just leave him in ignorant bliss? We just started dating and I'm worried about how he'll react, what will happen to our relationship, etc. Do I have a moral responsibility to tell him? What would you all do if you were in my position?

wouldn't you want your partner to inform you about what has happened if the roles were reversed? he can't support you through this unless you let him know what has happened.  

if he has it orally and you have i genitally, it's not much of an issue. avoid sex anytime you have anything going on genitally to err on the side of caution but he's not likely to contract hsv1 genitally from you.
