Need a good test... Suggestions?

by nowyouknow, Dec 19, 2007 11:55AM
I'm feeling like HSV blood tests are a bit of a waste. I haven't had one yet, but from what I'm reading they're all over the map. Might a swab test be the best route? Can you get a swab as soon as the HSV rash appears, or do you have to wait for all the other mess?

Yes you can get it tested as soon as it appears. You want to get the lesion culture done within 24-48 hours of the appearance of symptoms.

The blood tests aren't as much of a waste as they seem. Just be sure to wait 3 or 4 months before getting one.
