Negative test result while on Valtrex

I had unprotected sex with a woman and then learned later that she had HSV.  I had some symtoms (symptoms) when urinating but not sure it was not from me just freeking out and using too much soak in the shower (as if that would help).

I felt symtoms (symptoms) again and she gave me 5 Valtrex 500mg to take twice daily.  I still felt the need to be tested and on the last day I did get a blood test and it was negative.

My question is, would the Valtrex had suppressed the test result producing a faulse negative?

how long after the encounter was it that you got the blood test done?

The couple of days of valtrex you took won't affect the blood test.

I had a Herpeselect test 14 weeks after the encounter (<.90 negative).  I took 500mg twice daily Valtrex for three days prior to the test.

Was 14 weeks long enough for an acurate result?  Valtrex won't supress the test result?

a few days of valtrex won't affect the test.

It's best instead of self treating you see your provider when you have symptoms in the future so that you can get faster testing done ( lesion cultures ).

At this point you have no reason to think that you contracted hsv2.
