On May 19th, I was given a cervical biopsey to screen for cancer. They scraped the cervix and took a piece of tissue, and followed up with what I assume was a healing brown goo for the cuts
room in case I had an infection. The pelvic exam diagnosed me with cervicitis from infection and I was given hydrocodone and antibiotics. Saturday, red bumps appear around my entire labia. Sunday, the bumps fill and "weep" in a HSV fashion and are so painful I throw up several times throughout the day. The only comfort I have is sitting in a warm bath; the fever continues. Memorial Day Monday, I get ahold of the on call nurse and she prescribes Valtrex for herpes symptoms. I get a definite visual diagnosis by my doctor on Wednesday the 27th, and they take a viral culture.
So, today I call my nurse for test results and the swab is negative. I now need to get a blood test on Monday for antibodies. Can someone tell me WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?! I'm trying not to get my hopes up because there are few things that the lesions could have been besides herpes. I tested negative for every other STD.
This would have been my absolute first herpes outbreak judging by the intensity. I'm in a stable relationship now for a little over 3 months, we always use protection. We are waiting for his blood test results from this past Tuesday. Also, I've used protection with every partner because I did not take birth control until very recently (hence going to this new ob/gyn). This string of events is confusing and depressing and so I would appreciate any help.
Also, I am unsure of what type of test he recieved as well. He should get both IgM and IgG or is it too early? We began to be sexually active on March 21, but who knows when he may have given it to me or vice versa?
