"Never an Outbreak" - opinions?

by paranoidspouse, Mar 08, 2009 11:15AM
Anyone have any insight on the book "Never an Outbreak" by William Fharel or DMSO and other products he suggests to use?

Hi, I'm guessing by your user name that you are worried about infecting your significant other.  I know how that can be and it really is one of the worst parts about these diseases.  My heart goes out to you.

I haven't read the book you described, but I can provide some information on DMSO.  DMSO is a highly controversial drug and most doctors will not prescribe it (but it doesn't hurt to ask).  DMSO has potential to be an excellent healing ointment, however there are some serious dangers to be aware of.  The first is that all DMSO's are not made equal.  DMSO comes from wood pulp and is mainly used as a industrial solvent.  I have heard that some health food stores sell DMSO in 99% pure solutions, but this is not fit for human use.  In order for it to be fit for human use, it must be 99.9% pure.  It doesn't sound like much of a difference, but once you know how it works you'll understand why.  DMSO has an amazing ability to penetrate the cell wall and deliver oxygen and medication without damaging the cell.  But this is a two sided story.  DMSO will carry both good and bad things into the cell with it.  That means any impurities or any substance on the surface of the skin will be directly transported to into your cells.  As an extreme example, if you combine DMSO with a toxic or poisonous substance, you could very well end your life with a single application.  That's the main reason why it is avoided by the medical community.

Despite the downsides, there have been reports that it is extremely useful in fighting herpes.  Some people swear by it, others say it does nothing for them.  The idea is that DMSO treats the affected cells by delivering oxygen (and sometimes is mixed with aloe vera).  But there are risks (as described above).  I would definitely consult your doctor before trying it.  If you can get a prescription for it, it will be a much safer mixture than what you may get online somewhere.

Good luck!

thank you for your response.
I've heard mixed reviews as well.
unfortunately, I've already passed the virus to my spouse. he read the book and has been giving the "treatment" a shot. I'm a little skeptical about it because since it's not 100% safe, I don't know if I should take that chance of adding anymore impurities to my body considering I would like kids in the near future. Since they're already at risk for one thing, why add more...
