Hello everyone, I am 30 years old and I have recently been diagnosed with the hsv 1 virus. I had a std screening and blood test done, and the oral herpes strand is what tested positive. I am having a hard time coping with this and my heart is experience pain. I have had a small number of sexual
partners in my life, and I rarely kissed anyone in years. I don’t trust people. I shouldn’t have trusted him.
I have been celibate and disease free for the majority of my life. I started dating a guy 2 months ago, and I tried to give love a chance. Now I feel so nasty and stupid, and I’m am starting to hate myself. I confronted him about my positive result. He admitted that he had cold sores since childhood and that his whole family
catch it from using the toilet after me? How long does the virus last on surfaces. I never share drinks or utensils or towels with anyone. When I wash my face
if you've never been tested for herpes before, no way to know how long you've been infected. 1/3 of us contract hsv1 orally before we even start kindergarten - just most of us don't get obvious cold sores to know that we are infected. Statistically 1 out of every 2-3 people we know has hsv1 orally - it's incredibly common.
is this a reason to cry and beat yourself up about? absolutely not! be educated about oral herpes. http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm has terrific information on oral herpes for more reading.
as an adult, oral herpes is almost exclusively transmitted through romantic type kisses. sharing drinks and food isn't an issue for oral herpes.
Are you sure it was a type specific igg test? Some providers only started using the igg testing and some use the igm testing. Anyway you can find out what test was performed?
Did you read the link grace gave you?
HSV-1 orally really isn't that big of a deal. Its a skin condition. A lot of people will get it. It doesn't make you dirty!!!! Even if you had it and I was your partner we would still kiss just like normal. If you transmitted it oh well I got something that isn't going to kill me. Now in my view it would be a little different if for say he had HIV. But this isn't going to put you at risk.
Hi,thanks for the reply. i dont know the type of test that was done. the doctor showed me every test resut on paper as she read it to me. She showed me the hvs2 test that came back with a low number like .073 i think, and she said i did not have that strand. Then she showed me the hvs1 test that came back 3.98 i think and she said that i have the oral strand.
