Newly Acquired Herpes :(. Some questions how to move on...

Mid January 2017, I had protected sex - both oral and vaginal. Further, I also did cunnilingus.

Around mid Feb 2017, had ulcers in mouth. I had plenty of them since birth, hence ignored. But they re-occurred second week of March 2017 and along with it rashes / white waxy secretion around penis.

Mid March 2017 we did complete blood test. All the reports were negative, however Herpes IgG was positive with the value being 3.2. I am not sure when this was acquired - In Jan 2017 or even before from someone else.

1. How severe is this value? I have read somewhere, if the value is less than 3.5, it can be false positive or it can be suppressed with antivirals.

2. Ever since, I am taking Valacivir 2 tabs of 500 mg daily, since 3rd week of March 2017. It's 5 weeks now.....on Penis its all clear, but i keep feeling slight tingling feeling always. Further, the mouth ulcers re-occured last couple of days even while taking the antivirals. May be this OB is really severe, taking time to subside or is it something else?

3. I understand, that herpes is contagious and skin to skin transmitted easily. Am I a threat to my family members? I have my brother's kids. Can I still hold kids and play with them? Or is it that during OB, avoid kissing and restrict and contact in boxing shorts area?

Kindly advice. Many thanks...

Hello,

Been a while didn't come back on this topic, as the results and analysis has been very slow here.

Met the doctor last week. She had taken swab test of the buds on my penis and told me that I dont have any bacterial or viral infection on my penis, which also includes herpes. She told me it is candida fungus which caused this problem . But dont understand why mouth ulcers and this itching on penis comes together. I am struggling with mouth ulcers and this penis itching since mid Feb. I have herpes reading of 3.2 IgG, but they didnt evaluate Type 1 and Type 2 despite me telling. But as per doctor impact on Penis is not because of herpes as she says its candida. But what about mouth ulcers...just not going since mid Feb.

Any suggestions please? Thanks

Hello, The blood results came a day later and summary as follows:

1. All the medical reports are good - HIV is negative in 13 weeks (combo test), Uric Acid under control, Sugar is fine, Negative for all STD's including PCR molecular tests (Urine tests), etc. Doctor doesn't think so of anything to do with cancer also...

2. We specifically asked for seperate readings for HSV 1 and HSV 2. But still the lab came back with an aggregated value - quite funny. Hence, the second analysis was of no value other than re-asserting the previous result. HSV 1+2 IgG 3.2 and HSV IgM 0.5

3. Current situation : In mouth I have 3 small ulcers, pretty docile and waiting for them to go away. Penis is clean and looks normal, I just have some itchy feeling. i have already stopped Valtrex as I don't find it of any use.

4. Doctor mentions that amongst the following, any one or combo is responsible:
a) Have a varicocele in my left testicle. It makes burning and tingling once in a while
b) Herpes is there, but still not discovered - HSV 1 or HSV 2
c) I have a skin allergy for 3 / 4 years already - possibly a mild version  of urticaria. Have to consume one tablet of anti-histamine to avoid any scratching
d) some skin related disease, but didnt get the german word (Its there in the letter by doc to the dermatologist).
e) Or may be something else - such as soap related allergy

So he has referred me to a dermatologist. Will describe him all over again, but will specifically request him for HSV 1 and HSV 2 respectively also...

In summary, I still have to wait dermat to analyse...But if i look back at my symptoms, I wonder, if I really have HSV 2? Any thoughts? Or we wait for dermatologist to analyse...? Many thanks for your attention and your response.

Regards.

Thanks for the response. I have again today given my blood for testing and specifically asked for HSV 1 and HSV 2 values. The lab reports should be known on Wednesday April 19th. Long Easter weekend.

They didnt swab any sores. Dont know why. In fact looking at red rashes on Penis, they first asked me to check for diabetes. When sugar was normal, on my insistence, the blood was checked for HIV (8 weeks combo test was negative) and other STD's.

Lets wait until the reports come and I update you accordingly. Nice weekend....

Was it hsv1 or hsv2 that tested positive. The symptoms on the penis two months later do not sound hsv related at all. I doubt you contracted hsv from this exposure. It is possible but if you've had these sores in your mouth since you were young then i highly doubt its something new. Primary outbreaks happen days later. Not months.

I won't get into your first two questions yet as i need the info i asked for above to get a handle on what's going on.
You will not spread the virus by any casual interactions. If your having an oral outbreak then dont kiss anyone. Otber than that its life as normal

One last question. Why didn't they swab any sores?
