No More Sex for Me - A vow of Celibacy

You know before I got herpes Version 1.0 I rarely engaged in any sexual activity. Not by choice. I guess I wasn't a catch for the ladies even though I am tall, in shape, good looking, etc. I think I went almost 5 years without sex. Then I met some new friends and their influence an my own stupidity led me into the dark side and perhaps my mental illness played a factor as well. I always feared getting some STD and now I got one.

There's 4 possible way I could have contacted this. They are as follow:

1. I went to a club and kissed this drunk girl. After kissing her I saw some bumps on her lips. I didn't see them there before I kissed because it was dark and I was a little bit tipsy as well. Furthermore, I was ignorant about cold sore/herpes at the time.

2.I swapped saliva with a friend who I would consider a player with the ladies, when I drank from his container.

3.During my martial arts class. Close body contact. Skin to Skin

4. From a girl that give me oral sex that I met on a dating site. (Big Mistake)

So yeah, thats the four possible ways I could have gotten it. The reason why I am thinking about not having sex again is due to the fact that I cannot see myself knowingly risking someone else health. Besides, sex is rare for my anyhow, so I won't really miss it.

Questions:

1. Is it possible to get a false positive on a herpes test. How reliable is it?

Thanks

if you had a hsv1+ igg result then you do have hsv1. odds are it's oral herpes which is incredibly common. 1 out of every 2-3 people you know has hsv1. it's never a reason to be celibate.

http://www.ashastd.org/herpes/herpes_learn_oralherpes.cfm  has terrific info on oral herpes to better educate yourself about the virus.

I am not sure what the results were exactly. The doc just stated that I had HSV1, the good herpes, as she put it. I was diagnosed with a blood test. Anyhow, I do think I have it.

How were you diagnosed as having herpes? if it was a blood test, do you know the actual results - e.g. h sv1 igg 6.9 and hsv2 igg .34 or whatever your results are?
