Not sure if I have herpes.

Please read entire story and help to determine if it could be herpes, I am scared.  In November 2011 I noticed a bump on top part of penis and thought nothing of it.  It didn't hurt or itch so I left it alone. After a few weeks bump still there I tried popping it but nothing happened. I did research and thought it could maybe be molluscum since it hadn't gone away.  On Dec 26. 2011 I received oral but that was all for ten minutes.  On Jan. 1, 2012 I noticed small red bumps on base of penis, about 6 to be exact. None of them clustered together they are all spread out.  I went to the clinic to get tested two days later on Jan. 3. Nurse looked at bump from Nov. and said nothing of it but when noticed bumps on base of penis, she said it looked like herpes.  She gave me a shot in my but she said to build up my immune system and maybe bumps would go away.  I questioned her more on herpes and she really couldn't answer my questions, Im guessing she wasn't as knowledgeable on the subject but she did give me information on another clinic that tested for herpes.  I figured I would wait it out to see what happened.  It has been 16 days now and the bumps are still there and look the same.  They haven't burst open and they don't hurt.  I haven't had any of the symptoms of herpes as far as burning, itching, headache, muscle pain, or fever. The bumps don't even hurt when I touch them. I feel fine the only symptoms are the bumps that remain the same.  In some pictures ive researched they look more like molluscum then herpes.  I'm really just not sure and really don't have the money to go get tested right now.  Could someone please help me out and trying to figure out if I have herpes? My questions is could bumps still be same after 16 days and haven't popped, and still have no symptoms?

It's been a week since my visit to clinic in which I was told the bumps were normal.  This morning making it one month since noticing them I woke up and felt a lump right beneath my ear.  I think it could possibly be a swollen lymph node.  I felt the other side to see if it was the same way but I don't feel anything.  I am worried, it literally happened over night.  Should I be concerned?

Today I finally had the courage to visit another local std clinic and had the nurse inspect my bumps.  She tried to squeeze a few and some white stuff came out of one .  She said I was absolutely fine and the bumps were not an std.  She told me not to put anything on them and to leave them alone and they would go away eventually.  She said sometimes we just get bumps that come and go in that area.  I am so relieved to hear that and hope they go away soon.

after about 48 hours, the rates of false negatives skyrocket and it's not worth doing.

not likely it's herpes still there and hasn't changed at all.

Thanks again Grace for your response I do only have two further questions that you can hopefully answer for me. 1. It's too late for a culture test to be done even if bumps are still present? If it is too late I would probably just wait a few months to get blood test since now would probably be too soon to get accurate results.  I do plan on going to see a doctor hopefully soon to examine the bumps.  2.In your opinion how likely could herpes bumps still be present without bursting after this many days without any other symptoms? I greatly appreciate your responses Grace.

it's unfortunate that a culture wasn't done since it's so late now.

go and get a 2nd opinion elsewhere.

Thanks for your response Grace.  The clinic I went to told me they didn't test for herpes, so no there wasn't a herpes lesion culture performed.  The nurse assumed it was herpes just by looking at the bumps. Doing research before going to the clinic I thought the bumps looked like herpes too but then starting seeing more pictures of molluscum and thought it may be that too.  Today will be 17 days and bumps are still there, they do have fluid inside of them.  I just don't understand how it could be herpes after so long and nothing has happened to the bumps and no symptoms but these bumps are all I have?

I removed your other post since it was the same as this. we'll just keep all your questions in this post - thanks!

definitely be seen elsewhere for a 2nd opinion since you didn't get real answers where you were seen this time. too  late for a herpes lesion culture - I assume one wasn't done when you were seen originally and they thought these new symptoms were herpes?

Thanks for the response. I hope it's nothing that can't be cured. I plan on going to get help as soon as I can.

odds are this is not herpes. but you need to be seen by someone who's familiar with std diagnosis to be sure what's going on.

there's no "shot for herpes" - the nurse was obviously outdated when it comes to herpes diagnosis and treatment.
