Not sure if i have genital herpes or not, please help

Hello

I want to thank you in advance for any help. I have photo uploaded to this site, i will not post it due to the rules but if you could take a look at it in my gallery I would greatly appreciate it.

Heres the story. last week i noticed these 3 little red spots on the side of my penis shaft. I went to see a Dr. 3 days later. I told the doctor I had these three red spots, did not look like blisters and still do not. They are slightly raised and kind of rough to the touch. My Dr basically told me they thought it might be herpes but couldn't confirm or deny that they were based on what they saw. Since i saw the Dr. i feel the spots have gotten slightly bigger. They do itch on occasion and sometime feel tickled almost. I would also not associate any feeling of pain in the region.

I had unprotect oral sex with a woman whom i did not know about 2.5 months ago could this be herpes? I had never perviously had any redness like this on my penis before so i am a nervous. I did not get tested for HSV-1 or 2 because my doctor said 70 to 80 percent of people have HSV-1 and i would most likely test positive and the tests were expensive. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You should have a dermatologist look at the bumps on your penis.

Sorry. I am definatley not saying that it's HSV , but it looked like something I had on my arm that was.. that's all. But considering they arent fluid filled.. then I retract my statement.

Just wanted to update and see what you thought about this. So today is day 8 and i noticed today the "puffyness" of these red spots has gone down and one is almost gone now, it never burst or anything, no open sore. It just kind of deflated and looks almost like the normal skin again. Is this something atypical herpes might do? I still felt a little tickle/ itch today but it has been very infrequent. The two other spots are still there and still look puffy and when i stretch the skin they look flat. I am waiting for my Dr. to call me back so I will be talking with them tomorrow but i wanted to know if anyone you any thoughts on this. Thank you.

I would rely on your tests and doctors

I've had red spots appear on my penis head on and off for a few months now. My doc said it wasn't herpes but fungal

I will also say I'm a bit dissapointed in loz23. A medical opionion from a non doctor via an online has got to be as unreliable as it gets. So try not to get over anxious

Thank you for your response  Terri,

Sorry about the link, i thought it would just take you to the photo.

I have never had a cold sore, however when i was a young teen I had two occasions where i had these blisters break out on my neck which actually left a scar and a year later i had the same type of thing happen on my fingers, that was probably 12 or 13 years ago. A few months ago i had these 4 blister like pustules that popped up on my leg all in a row but they never broke they just slowly went away without breaking or scabbing.

I have never had any kind of redness like this before on my penis so i am very nervous about this. It does give me a little hope that the 3 red spots are not acting like normal herpes but i understand that this doesn't mean it can be ruled out but it is still possible? What else might it be?

I didnt have other symptoms i have read about that might signal the onset besides itching but the itching wasn't even in the same location as where these red spots are.

These red spots started off pretty small like 1mm or so and over the next 5 days or so they became larger about 1/2 inch in diameter and they looked puffy, if you looked at them from the side they were raised off the penis but again did not look like blisters. When stretched the loose skin of the penis and felt them they were rough to the touch. Today they actually look a little less red and less swollen or puffy. I'm just unsure what else they could be and my Dr. had told me they couldn't really tell me what it was but it could be herpes or it could be nothing but that answer was a little disappointing. Should i have the blood test done?

I'm sorry, but I don't look at pictures on the internet, especially when I'm asked to download a program to do so.

I would agree that it is best to go back and have your doctor swab test these bumps using PCR if possible.  Usually, herpes will make a blister, rupture, make an ulcer, scab over and heal.  If these aren't doing that, it is less likely that they are herpes.  It is not necessary to have something open to swab to do a swab test. Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip?  If yes, then you already have HSV 1 infection and would be very unlikely to get it in a new location, i.e., your penis.  After four months, I think it would be useful to test.  If you are negative for HSV 1, then you will know you didn't get it infected, with about 90% certainty.  If you are positive for HSV 1, you wont' know if your infection is new or old, but you will know you have it, as does 56% of the US population.

Thanks for checking Ioz23, that really sinks my heart. They have taken the photo down but if anyone else might be able to check it out the photo is here http://www.sendspace.com/file/ynln4n

They redness is still there today, i'm not sure if it's getting better or not. Last night I was freaking out about it and hoping to see some good news when i checked the post this morning. I called my Dr. but they are not in today so i will try and see them tomorrow.

It has been 8 days now since i noticed the red spots and they have definitely gotten bigger, they look puffy but less puffy now then a few days ago. My Dr. didn't do a swab because they said they couldnt get anything from it? These are not open sores or anything and like i said i dont see any blisters, and it doesn't appear these are lesions either, the skin is in tact. Are the just big blisters? but i dont see any puss or liquid under the surface.

I was hoping it was some kind of reaction to a lubrication I had used but it's been 8 days and i dont think something like that would last this long.

Hey. I checked out your picture and I would say it pretty much looks like it.
She might have had coldsores and now it's down there...

I am surprised your doctor didnt take a swab test on it. Are the marks still there? If so go back! Say you would like to know exactly where you stand to protect yourself and others... even get the blood test I don't think it's right they deny you that.

However, it could be something else like an irritation rash I'm not sure.
I know I get something like that on my arm and it's HSV2 and it doesnt hurt it just itches sometimes and tingles. No big deal.
