I seem to be having symptoms of herpes and i'm freaking out! I went to the doctor and she asked me about all the symptoms and at the time all I had was vaginal
, or what felt like down there. So she checked me out and said it's most likely a yeast infection. So i took the monistat 3 day and nothing totally improved right after that. So I went back to the doctor and told her that I don't think it's gone away.... so she checked me out and swabbed me for herpes. I'm waiting for my results... does anyone know how long it takes and do you think this sounds like herpes?
The weather is now changing so I don't know if this is because of that.. but I now have a sore throat
(although when she swabbed for herpes, she said they looked like they were healing..... but i also had this so called "yeast infection" for a couple weeks before i got checked) still have a tiny bit of discharge and still frequent and painful urination.....
Something else I should mention is I have been with my boyfriend for almost 2 years and I have got pap's before and they have been fine. (not sure if i was tested for herpes then though.) I alse have pain in my knees and the back of my heels... which my doctor thought was from something else originally. Not sure if it's related to this.. what do you think???
Unfortunately your lesion culture was done so late into things that odds are that it's going to be negative regardless. It could be accurately positive but after that much time has passed, the odds of a false negative are incredibly high.
At this point you and your bf should both have type specific herpes igg blood tests done to see what each other's status is. Odds are that neither of you have ever been tested for herpes before.
so when I hear back I should ask for a blood test if it's negative? Do you think that's indeed what this is though??
I now feel better.
The thing is is he's only been with one other person before and I have never felt anything like this before so if it was herpes, I would assume I got it recently because I assume this would be the "primary infection"..... the one other person he was with before was her first as well.. I'm just so confused, I don't see how I could have got this and now......
About 1/2 of all presumed newly acquired genital herpes infections are actually just the first obvious recurrence of a previously acquired infection. Both of you getting tested will give you much better answers as to if you need to continue worrying if this is more than just a humdinger of a yeast infection.
So if I got this over two years ago, I could only now be getting my first outbreak? I'll definitely get tested. which is the best test I should ask for? The blood test? I've seen several discussions on Igg or Biokits... something like that and I have never heard of these things...
I haven't been able to get a blood test yet from my doc. but I haven't heard anything from the doc's about my swab test, so I'm assuming that's negative. The doctor thinks the pain in my knees and heels is RA.
I still plan on going to get a blood test but I am on a tight schedule right now.
I still have a minimum amount of discharge, and still frequently urinating. It's also itchy. Now it doesn't hurt to urinate anymore but I feel like I always have to go, even when there's barely anything there.( I know it's not a UTI) I believe I still have a tiny cut, because when i wipe hard, to ease the itch, there is a little tiny bit of blood from it. If I don't wipe hard, you can't see it.
*Do you think this is herpes still or could it be a continuous yeast infection? and do you think I should continue to use the cream from the Monistat package for the cut?*
The symptoms seemed to be going away, almost where there was no problems and I had sex with my boyfriend once since all this and they seem to be back.
I don't want to have this come back everytime!! Is there anything I can do?
And If I return to the doctor again, and they think it's a yeast infection... Is there another medication, like a pill of some sort to cure this rather than the Monistat? I HATE using the monistat.
I'm not a fan of self treating. I'd try to make time to be seen and get a proper exam done again. Some clinics keep later hours to try to work around your work schedule. Also make sure that they are properly testing your vaginal secretions for yeast, not just a visual diagnosis of they think it's yeast going on.
Yes, they make diflucan pills for treating vaginal yeast. I agree, messy creams aren't my first preference either though sometimes you can't avoid them.
I will have to go in and ask for my last results I suppose. I'm assuming they didn't contact me because that's what they diagnosed before my results were in.
When I get in there, i'll make sure that was the case and ask for another test to make sure. So if I get another test, should I wait until results are in before treating it again, even though they suggest to do so?
No, my boyfriend hasn't been tested yet. Do you think he could be passing a yeast infection back to me? or do you think that it's still something more serious?
