On January 12, I had an encounter with an acquaintance with an unknown HSV status. I've known her for a few years, but not well. The extent of my knowledge about her is what she does for a living
hair area. There may have been genital-to-genital contact, but if there was, it was brief and non-insertive. I was on a long layover in Istanbul at the time.
From January 13-19, I was in Astana, Kazakhstan on a business trip. It was cold (highs were about 5 deg F) and very dry. The skin all over my entire body felt very dry and cracking. I was then in London for January 20-21, where it was much warmer and damper. Skin felt slightly better. Days in both Kazakhstan and London were jammed packed with meetings, dinners, and post-dinner parties, and I was hit with jet lag more than normal. I have to go on these trips twice or three times a year. They are typically for a month, not a week and a half, and so this was more jammed packed than usual. Kind of stressful.
Came back to the States on the 21st. Slept most of the day on the 22nd due to jet lag, but went out to a movie with a friend and felt fine. On the 23rd, I got up with what best could be described as a sour stomach. Went to work, but at lunch, had repetitive diarrhea, and went home to go to bed. No fever, no headache. Felt bad but not the muscle aching. When I got up to eat later that night, I noticed a very angry-looking red spot the size of my pinky fingernail on the underside of my penis right below the head just off to one side of my frenulum.
The red spot was somewhat raw, a collection of small nicks, somewhat moist, not painful, and tender to my prodding at it. There was no itching, no tingling that I noticed, no blisters that I noticed before, no painful urination. If I didn't know better, I would have said it was an abrasion anywhere else on my body; however it was on my penis, so I freaked out.
After the trip, I went to town on my dick on the 21st and the 22nd. No lube, lots of friction.
I felt sick from Monday to Wednesday/Thursday, but it was mainly infrequent diarrhea, little/no fever, chills only the first day (but that happens to me when I get frequent diarrhea, as on Monday), general malaise and sleeping a lot. Headache, but it was relieved by Advil. I think the headache was because I sometimes sleep funny and get a crick in my neck that spreads to my head.
Friday, I felt very close to 100%.
The sore, however, has slowly dried out and scabbed over, despite my constant inspection and stretching out due to night and day wood. The red, non-nicked, non-moist skin went back to normal by Wednesday. The once moist, nicked parts formed a heart shaped scab (point of the heart points to where my frenulum and head meet). It's slightly smaller than my pinky fingernail. At one point, there were two or three tiny drops of what appeared to be blood in the nicks but that was once.
The skin has already grown a very small layer over part of the scab, and there is no yellowish crust that apparently goes along with recovering herpes lesions. From me just looking in the mirror at it, it's already looking like just a darker patch of somewhat red skin.
During at least one of my many close up inspections, I thought I saw remnants of blisters (like unroofed blisters with the "walls" of the blister still intact), and at times, it could be painful but never a burning pain. However, I understand that my fixation on it is making me see and feel a lot of things that I shouldn't. Most telling is that it never hurts when I wake up ever.
So I imagine it could be one of four things:
1) An initial herpes outbreak
2) A recurrent outbreak of a previously unrecognized infection
3) An masturbation abrasion and a bad stomach flu. (My only problem with this is that I have never created an abrasion this big before).
4) Something else that I haven't thought of/knew of before
Thanks so much for listening to me and your advice.
the majority of the symptoms you've listed are not std related at all.
It's too late now to have your genital symptoms looked at since they are almost gone. Odds are they weren't herpes related from the encounter you posted about but you might not get good answers as to what they were at this point. should they reoccur, be seen for a proper exam promptly.
