On the buttock..not a common location in females

by ninacheyenne, May 20, 2008 05:10AM
Seven years ago i had what I thought was a bug bite or allergic reaction. I showed my right buttock cheek to my boyfriend at the time & he said that looks like herpes. I said how do you know what that looks like?...because I have it genitally. We didn't even have sex we were "spooning" with our underwear on, and I sometimes get bumps on butt..like when you wear something that is too loose & it rubs your skin causing irritation. I have a boyfriend now & I have been open about this situtation because when I was tested with that 1st "outbreak" it was cultured & came back as simplex 2. I take valtrex on a daily basis, we use condom's, I have spoken with my OBGYN about questions, and I find myself doing more research because I don't want to do anything to compromise his health. However, the more I look for my situtation specifically the more I become confused. Is it not a common location to have this on a butt cheek higher than where your panty line hits? It's not anal, vaginal, or on my inner thighs...I know it is herpes...I just can't find any "specific" documentation saying this has happened before...I guess after 7 yrs I may be responsible about the situation but looking for an exact situationlike mine. The doctor's I have seen over the years have all had different perceptions of truth when I ask questions...can you please point me in a direction to find information on similar situations as mine?

I guess I"m not real clear on what the question is here unless it's just a "am I normal" question?

You already know it's hsv2 because of the lesion culture. Having ob's within the boxer short area as we call it is completely normal - nothing unusual at all about that.  You still however have "genital herpes"  so when you have an ob you should be avoiding sex with your partner if they are hsv2 negative. You also shed the virus from the anogenital area along with recurrences on the buttocks as well as periodically in between obvious lesions the virus sheds from the anogenital area ( the skin on the area you typically are getting lesions is too thick for the virus to shed thru without an obvious lesion present ).   Has your current partner had a herpes blood test to know his own status?
