Ongoing Symptoms, do I have Herpes?

Hi there, I apoligise for the long post but it's been a tough year. 12 months ago I foolishly had unprotected sex twice in the same day with an old female friend. The first time was vigorous but well lubricated and the second time was rough as well but didn't have enough lubricant and at the end was quite painful for me but I didn't ask her to stop because she was reaching climax. It was quite obvious afterwards that there was too much friction because the skin on my glans was very sore, irritated and for want of better words, torn up or like carpet burn. We went our separate ways and over the next week or two the skin on my penis was healing but after about 3 or 4 weeks the glans became very red, irritated all over and painful all the time. It wasn't getting any better no matter what I did so I went to see my doctor. He visually inspected me and sent me for an std screen including HSV 1 and 2 Igg. All tests came back negative. He prescribed 2 creams, firstly Canesten and secondly Resolve 1.0 with some but not totally effective improvement. I came back for another screen at 2 and 3 months because I was worried and all tests were again negative. The doctor said I was clear of infection and did not have herpes and the tests were reliable. I asked the girl if she had any symptoms, told her I was having problems and she said always gets tested after every relationship and she'd get tested. I never saw them but she said her tests were all negative. I continued to have regular symtoms of redness, burning, pain and often itching so went to another doctor for a second opinion. He said that herpes blood testing was not reliable but said I didn't have herpes. He prescribed a cream called Bactroban that made some improvement but not good enough. I went back to the second doctor who sent me to a specialist, the specialist said there was nothing wrong with me. I've seen a sexual health nurse twice who said there was nothing wrong and a third doctor that said it was all in my head. I'd read that it was possible to be infected with herpes virus and test negative; the only thing I hadn't tried was anti viral meds for herpes and I had to plead with the first doctor to try it who took a swab of the affected area and prescribed 7 day course of Famvir. The symptoms did improve somewhat and got worse when the meds finished. The swab came back negative and he said he couldn't prescribe any more without a positive test result. I was starting to get irritation in both eyes and the doctor said it was an allergic reaction and prescribed some drops. I was so worried herpes had infected my eyes that I have had them checked about 6 times. I went to the second doctor again and asked him if he would try a month of Famvir to see what happened. He declined but sent me off to the same specialist. I had images of my symptoms that I showed the specialist, he looked at my penis again and suggested that I had balanitis and if it persisted for another 6 months I should have a circumcision. I saw a fourth doctor who after hearing my history was willing to prescribe a 1 month course of Famfir as a preventative to see how my symptoms behaved. I'm sure the Famvir has an effect on my genital symptoms, it also helps the irritation in my eyes but the doctors seem to be very reliant on the negative blood test results. I had another screen at 6 and 10 months, all negative. I'm booked for a circumcision in 6 weeks time and am very concerned about my health and mostly my eyesight. Someone on a forum suggested I might have HPV because of the way my symptoms seem to react to the anti virals but the advisor on that site said it wasn't and my symptoms didn't sound like herpes.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Best regards
Billy

Hi, I didn't realise you were the same person from another forum.
The reason I posted here is because I am at the end of my rope and thought I'd look for other opinions. Over the year I've seen so many doctors so many times and have had so many tests without a diagnosis and the only thing that affects my genital and eye related symptoms is Famvir. The doctors think I am wasting their time. It is driving me crazy any I feel like I will just keep seeing more and more doctors until I lose my eye sight. I don't want to alarm anyone else and don't want to be a burden, perhaps my case is just rare.
Best regards.

I'm pretty sure I've been helping you with this on another forum in the past if you haven't been posting about this here.  If you don't mind I prefer to follow up on this on the other forum instead of on 2 forums. thank you.
