Oral Herpes and Sore Throat

I kissed a women on the first meeting so do not really know her 7 days ago.   She says she has never had cold sore when I asked because I seen a red mark on my lower lip since i have never had one.   However, the mark went away with no puss or scaping.   Neverlesss my question is If I have had a sore throat on one side since day 5 (going into my third day) .  I read that symtoms of first oral herpes could be sore throath.  Would sore throat go along with the cold sore on the lip on first infection or just sore throat and later on a cold sore?

One last question.  And thanks for the information.   If you have it but do not know it and have never shown signs of it would you still be able to pass it along.  I have kids so more for there sake .

statistically 1 out of every 2-3 adults in the US alone has hsv1 orally. it's incredibly common and most folks who have it, don't get obvious cold sores to know it.

No have never been tested.  Never had a reason too at this point.   I looked in the back of throat with flash light but do not see any pumps.    Would you see pumps?   How long would sore throat typicaly last if it was Oral Herpes?  What is the percentage of people that have it but do not show any signs ever in there life?
