Oral Herpes to genital herpes

by Patricius, Mar 22, 2009 08:30PM
Hi - can oral herpes be passed from the mouth of someone with oral herpes, giving a ** to the penis of a recipient?
I know genital herpes and oral herpes are 2 different strains, but can one start the other one off?

thanks for clarification.

You can transmit oral herpes to the genital area thru oral sex.  Typically it's hsv1 orally which when transmitted to the genital area stays hsv1. It can't turn into hsv2 because it's below the belt.   Hope that makes sense :)
