Oral Herpes

I visited my doctor Friday, June 12 due to white patches on my tonsils (which he diagnosed as tonsillitis), a cough, very swollen and tender neck glands, muscles aches, overall feeling of sick.
I also have a very red swollen gums, a sore on my gums. And sores on the roof my mouth. Very uncomfortable and painful to eat due to the sores and swollen a gums.
The said they were only viral sores from being sick. I directly asked, "Do I have oral herpes" and he said, "I'm not saying that, these sore are just from you being sick. I even asked if he recommends that I get a culture on them and he said, "No." (However, looking at the inside of my mouth, I am convinced I have oral herpes).
I have had strep before and tonsillitis on a few occasions and NEVER have I and kinds or types of sores in my mouth. This would be my first ever outbreak.
My boyfriend does has Hsv1 (like most everyone) and gets sores from time to time (though not inside the mouth).
(We've been together for just about 1.5 years). Never had anything prior to him.

I am currently taking a 5 day Zpack (2 on first and then 1 everyday after until gone. Ita been 2 days and haven't seen much improvement as far as the tonsillitis, hopefully it will kick in.

Which is more likely, that I have gotten it from kissing or performing oral sex on him??
Why does his present outside the mouth and mine presented itself inside the mouth??
What medications should I be taking for the oral herpes? Is there some suppressive medication I can start or a medicated mouthwash??
ANY and ALL info about oral herpes is appreciated as This is my first ever experience and I'm totally clueless.

The odds of you having oral HSV1 are pretty high, with or without this unfortunate affliction in your mouth that is probably not related to HSV1.

Regardless this would mean you are like about two thirds of the world's population with this virus.

There is no need to be concerned about HSV1 here.

If you have HSV1, then there is a pretty good chance you have had it since your youth.

From what you describe, this does not seem to be related to HSV1. Sores on the gums and roof of the mouth are rarely related to HSV1.

If yoyu like, you can have a blood test to determine status.

In any event, there is no need to be concerned or do anything special medication wise etc. Just live life normally.

Also, how do I care for my teeth as far a tooth brushing goes. I have continued to brush as it appears that now my bottom gums are really tender and swollen (where it was just my top prior).

Could it have been transmitted after receiving oral sex from boyfriend and then kissing immediately after??

I'm just confused as to why this first outbreak would be INSIDE my mouth.
